FMI Air & Myanmar Questions
Anyone know anything about FMI Air in Myanmar?
The good, the bad, the ugly, all the stories. |
Last I heard, they have a couple of CRJs recently delivered and are still awaiting their part 121 AOC. Currently using leased ATRs on part 135 if I'm not mistaken. They seem to have very strong financial backing with a number of expats in managerial and consultative positions.

training_wheels, thanks.
Any information about how they treat their pilots? Does Yangon and Naypyidaw have GPS Approaches with SCDA or RNP? Do they have good ATC, and how is there English? Is there suitable alternates close to Yangon and Naypyidaw? What type of instrument approaches do most alternate airports have? I have searched and seen what the city Naypyidaw is like, it appears to be a very dispersed city. There doesn't seem to be a lot of markets in the Hotel Sector. With no public transit how do expats go to buy food or go out? Any other living or working conditions I should know about? |
I'll be in a better position to answer your questions in the second half of the year although I won't know specifically about FMI other than what I hear off the grape vine.
With regards to the Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon, according to the Myanmar AIP, there are no RNP approaches however they do have ILS. Here's a link to the Myanmar AIP with the approach plates and aerodrome data for Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon. You would probably use Mandalay as alternate as that's the only other airport in Myanmar that has an ILS. |
Thanks for the info I appreciate it.
