A320 Rating

Hello Friends....As the new airlines are setting up, almost all airlines are getting A 320. I was planing to go for my type endorsement. Please suggest which is the cheap and best Flight Centre I should Opt ??

Thanks in Advance..!!

PatagonianProud 17th Oct 2014 20:31

apply for a job and let the airline pay for your rating / training. why spend your money !?

pfvspnf 18th Oct 2014 03:07

Doing at cheap unrecognized places will cause more damage than good

Avoid skies aviation , jetstream academy and pan am.

Go to CAE or Airbus

And finally , yes try and get the airline to pay for it , never pay for a rating without a job guarantee

It is difficult to get a job ..!! have been finding for over two years..!!

Any leads where i can apply ?? Have basic Indian CPL with 200 hours..!!

pilotchute 18th Oct 2014 08:28

pfvspnf,

Pan Am are most certainly recognised by EASA, DGCA and many other authorities. Maybe not the most professional place to do a rating but it is cheap so you get what you pay for.

Airbus and CAE are very good but the price is way too much.

By the way I have done a A320 rating. Have you?

pfvspnf 18th Oct 2014 10:36

A320, A330/340 rated.

Point being this 200 hour wonder needs proper training not some circus type rating school where they get you through it and you complete a checkride in the minimum amount of sessions .

You are probably not going to find a job after , and even if you do will most likely suffer on the line .

And no there are no jobs that I know of hiring pilots straight out of flight school for the airbus at this moment .

PlanetEarth 18th Oct 2014 11:32

It is very hard to time that a320 type rating thing.

In Asia, the two companies that have been hiring (non-nationals) without time on type has been Cebu and Macau. However, both of these get applications en masse from people with thousands of hours and an a320 type rating.

My advice would be to not do a type rating, unless you have talked directly with an airline, they have told you what type rating center they use for their pilots, and that they would definitely interview you afterwards. That's the smallest guarantee I would go for...

However, for one in your position, it's not easy in any way shape or form to go directly to a jet job.
The other option, is to be lucky enough to time it exactly when with one of these companies hire, because, after 6 months, some companies won't touch you anymore unless you go do a recurrency again..

Just having an a320 type rating from a random provider, with no job prospects, no programs, or anything else, is gonna be a 90% chance of being a complete waste of money.

Instead of burning your money with a TR without any job prospect, why not venture into GA. Plenty of places you can go and build valuable experience leave alone building hrs too.

You can start with Africa or Indonesia! Make Google your partner and you discover alot!

pilotchute 18th Oct 2014 21:33

Gear up,

There are no GA jobs for 200 hour wannabes in Indonesia anymore. Africa is requiring 400 hours with 206 or Airvan experience.

Please don't deal out advice on subjects uou know little about.

Greenlights 18th Oct 2014 22:25

Dude, save your money, unless you're a richman, in that case it's up to you.
But if not, you should invest in real estate instead, it's smarter.

A TR was worthless a few years ago, but completely useless now.

Now, some guys even pay for hours on type. So a type rating with no hours, it's a nonsense. If you want to throw money, do it well --> pay a TR + 500 h on type.

But be aware, thousands of guys have thousands of hours on type ! You don't know it, you know this kind of thing once you fly professionnally ! you're not alone buddy.

I would not recommend to pay for a CPL IR even to my ennemy... so for a TR, no need to say !

This job has become a hobby for many monkeys.

Says the guy advising the other guy to do the stupidest thing he could possibly do, which is buy a jet rating with 200 hours and no job offer

Yes it's hard to get into GA but it's a damn sight easier (and cheaper) than throwing your money away on speculative type ratings

pilotchute 19th Oct 2014 07:56

Luke I never advised the guy to get a type rating. I simply responded to 2 posters who gave bad advice. I think he should never have got a licence in the first place considering the amount of fresh licence guys in India all looking for a first job.

......:= Well said Luke SkyToddler!

pilotchute 19th Oct 2014 12:05

Can someone please point out where I told the guy to get a type rating?

BAe 146-100 19th Oct 2014 12:12

You do seem to have the habit of going on threads telling people they don't know what they are on about when you appear to do exactly the same.

pfvspnf 19th Oct 2014 12:37

How is doing a type rating at CAE or airbus bad advice ?

pilotchute 19th Oct 2014 12:54

Because CAE and Airbus charge much higher prices than many other places that are just as good.

You told the guy to avoid cheap unrecognised places and you then listed Pan Am. Pan Am is cheap but it certainly isn't unrecognised.

Pfvspnf,

Most posters on here don't know what they are talking about. There are far too many people telling kids to follow their dreams and other such nonsense. No matter what we say on here this kid will probably go and get typed anyway. Nothing we say or any amount of reasonable argument will change his mind.

pfvspnf 19th Oct 2014 13:20

Just to clarify I never said that pan am was unrecognized

They charge higher prices for a reason , you get more sessions and quality training and possibly even leads to airlines if you are really good! Yes this is a fact! I know two guys that got recommended by CAE

Type ratings should not be done without a job guarantee but if you're spending the money you should do it with the best, it will help you on the line!

I am fed up of kids not knowing the sops can't remember the memory items and frankly have no clue what to do when the workload increases.

lilflyboy262...2 19th Oct 2014 13:31

In all fairness you said cheap unrecognized.

If you had said cheap or unrecognized then you wouldn't have been having this discussion :E

He was just correcting bad or misleading advice.
(Africa certainly isn't a place for 200hr cpls)

Thanks for guidance..! Will keep in mind..!
