Atr jobs and conditions in SE Asia

Hi Guys.

I´m planning to move possibly to South East Asia to fly (ATR Captain) and I would like to know if you can share some knowledge about conditions, salaries, rosters... in the few different airlines flying ATR in the area, Wings Air, Garuda, Vietnam, Cebu...

I heard that Garuda has change the conditions and they are quite good for the commenting roster, house allowance... but when I asked to the Garuda recruitment they keep saying send your documents first...

I´m not sure about Wings, and I heard that Cebu is not good at all.

I know some guys flying for Vietnam and they are quite happy, but I don´t know all the details.

Thank you for any feed back.

Stay away from Cebu Pacific.

pilotchute 8th Sep 2014 04:29

Garuda would be first choice but I don't know about VN. Cebu are a disaster and Wings are a division of Lion!

Yes VN is recruiting ATR72 captains for Hanoi base, but damn it's hard to go past that Bali base with Garuda

Transasia in Taiwan is also recruiting ATR captains I believe.

So, send your documents, what is the problem with that

I would take any of the bases Garuda offers in Indo over a basing in Hanoi.

migair54 8th Sep 2014 15:43

Hi, thanks for the reply, I have sent all the documents to the email in Garuda web page and no answer, I heard some guys using agencies as well. But I'm still trying to get more info about the roster and the commuting conditions, I want to go with my wife, so I need to have things very clear before moving there.

I'm not sure about Hanoi, I went there and I like the city, but I know living there must be different than going on holidays, how're VN working conditions??

Do Garuda have more than one base for ATR???

navimaster 9th Sep 2014 03:16

In Malaysia we have 3 ATR72 operators, which are also hiring rated Captains.

1) Malindo - a division of Lion Air
2) Firefly
3) MASwings

I though in Malaysia only local pilots were allowed. It is interesting, because MY it's ca place I'd love to stay.

I'll have a look I think Malaysia or Indonesia would be great, but so far the commuting with Garuda seems great, because imcan come home almost every 8 weeks and I've been told that they have reserved seats for crew commuting.

Expat capts are ok in Malaysia. Just not foreign FO's.

gsoflyer 10th Sep 2014 03:36

Does anybody have a contact for Transasia? I would be interested in an ATR job there (over 3000 hrs PIC ATR 72)

thanks, gsoflyer

Stay away from Cabu mate.
That Company is simply the worst place on the planet.

What is the matter with Cebu?

migair54 11th Sep 2014 08:03

I'm not sure what's the matter with Cebu, but many people told me the same, stay away. A couple of hears ago I applied for F/O position and they offer me a horrible package with 10 days holidays and very little money, they told me it was the local pilot package.

For Transasia you can contact Rishworth Aviation, but the screanings were in August.

Today I saw an airline in Thailand and another in Papua also looking for ATR pilots.

The matter with Cebu?
You don't wanna know:\
Stay away from there.

CO-PILOT

Requesting for help for co-pilot position for ATR rated CPL holder without on type experience

migair54 13th Sep 2014 21:30

Hi Sumittomar.

I think without hours on type will be difgicult to find a job, specially in SE Asiavwhere more and more local pilots are hired and expat are requested to have a minimum of hours.

I heard that in Indonesia if you don't have at least 100 hours on type the can't hire you.

Maybe you canntry Papua or Fiji, but Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Philippines will be very very unlikely.
You can try some airlines in Africa also (Nigeria, Ghana)

pilotchute 14th Sep 2014 04:52

Summit,

With a fresh CPL + ATR rating with zero time on type you have virtually no chance anywhere outside your home of India.

There is a slight chance Cebu might take you but I'm pretty sure they don't accept Indian licences.

Cebu Pac. ???

Cebu Pac was diffcult in any aspect.
It is not recommendable to try to get a job in that company.
-The admin pilots make a problem out of everything for you.
-Everything takes a very long time to fix.
-You can not relay on agreements.
-Almost everything, flight operation, depends on one person, even if he is not assigned to many descissions and directives.
-The city is an absolute nightmare in any aspect.
-I lived in some Asien countries, PH was a chapter in my life wich i would never repeat.

I could make along list, but i will not remember this bad story.

Edit:
I am not sure about the actual CPT income but i heard it is about 3.500-4.000USD now.

My opinion:
I would never recommend Cebu Pac. to anybody.
If i had to decide today, flying with Cebu Pac. or staying at home and doing another profession, after thinking a long time about this matter, i would not consider to go to Cebu Pac.

migair54 26th Sep 2014 08:34

Hi guys. Thanks for all the feedback

All I've heard about Cebu is bad, and actually when I was F/O I applied and theh sent me a "local" contract, very crappy salary, 10days of annual leave and more slavery conditions.
Plus one of my friends went there and he left even before start flying because it was chaotic.

Anyone has info about Garuda and Wingair?? Salary, conmuting, bases..

Ok pilotchute, I think even Malaysia ciuld be a nice place to go, but I have tried to contact them and no reply at all, how are things there??

Low Hour ATR Jobs in SEA or Africa

Hi guys. This is my first ever post on pprune seeking help and advice from my fellow aviators. I'm looking for an atr first officer job in south east asia or Africa. I got 700 TT and 400 on atr72 (icao cpl). The airline I work for doesn't seem like it'll last for much longer and I'm very much worried about my career coz it's REALLY hard to get a job as an expat FO with low hours. I've emailed airlines in indo and myanmar with no replys. I know Malaysia doesn't hire expat FO's. KAN air in thailand is no longer looking for atr copilots. I've heard solenta aviation in Africa may hire atr low hour copilots but can't seem to touch with them. I would even consider Cebu Pac (it's come to that point). What do u guys suggest? Should I spend the limited money I have to travel to countries and meet airlines in person? Or are there other ways? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
