Jet Airways AUH-SFO
 
This is just a question regarding the topic, but from what I have heard in the past was that the 9W 777 could make it non-stop from BOM/DEL-NYC, so im wondering how E-had will make them all the way to SFO?

Will they be payload restricted or will they be making a stop somewhere along the route?

As far as I know Jet Airways has never operated non-stop to NYC and I doubt that they would unless they restrict the payload, but they tend to carry a lot of cargo usually so that will defeat the purpose. They definitely cannot make it to SFO, the plan as I understand it from the thread is that Jet Airways planes leased to Etihad will be operating that route from AUH , but I doubt they can do it cos Etihad occasionally have flights operating to YYR and ORD being diverted due to higher than planned fuel burn, and their flights are planned and operated as re-dispatch anyway.Even when Jet Airways operate to JFK and ORD their flights will route through AUH.

Until the FAA lifts the safety category of India from Category 2 no new routes to US airports will be approved for 9W. That said, the aircraft are going to be operated utilizing EY's AOC.

B777-300ERs operate DXB-SFO with payload restrictions. AUH-SFO would be similar. There have certainly been tech stops in both directions in the past, but it is not the norm.

I would like to question whether those who generalize and compare Dubai ( thus EK) and Abu Dhabi ( thus 9W or EY) have flown in that region or just compare the two because of the close geographical proximity? I would like to highlight to those who keep comparing the two( if interested) that Dubai has a runway which is 1100 Ft longer than Abu Dhabi, that the elevation difference of close to 60 Ft makes a difference, that Stop-ways have an effect on performance, that runway slope has an effect so please stop comparing the two.Each degree celsius rise drops the RTOW by close to 3 tons above 42 degrees C in Abu Dhabi. The EK and EY aircraft both operate with a T/O bump thrust setting and 9W aircraft do not have that at the time being so until that gets sorted out 9W aircraft cannot accomplish the mission that EK can
