HAINAN ROSTERING AND MORE

Hey everyone!

Any A330 cpt based in CAN?
I am interested in rosters - what kind of flying you guys do out of there?
And what is the policy regarding OFF days etc...
Anyone with the family there? How does it look like for small kids (below 10 y.o.)? Any hospital where personnel speaks any English?
Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks!

CAN? Hainan? please check your facts

loco330 7th Jun 2014 16:12

PEK, CAN, XYI, SZX, HAK

The bases in China they are offering.
I checked my facts.
Maybe you should engage brain before fingers hit ENTER.
But hey, you probably know more that them....

WYOMINGPILOT 8th Jun 2014 10:25

Hey Loco take a Chill pill Brah! Hainan has been advertising these positions for months but talk to the insiders. It is just a ploy, my friends there tell me PEK is the only 330 base actually being awarded. A few 320 guys have Haikou or Sanya as their base. The recruiters will try and bait you in offering multiple bases that don't exist. The 737 guys have been working for months trying to get Shenzhen as a base but it still hasn't materialized. Check with somebody there on the inside before making any decisions and don't base anything written on some website.

If I remember right local HNA pilots get double pay for international flights.

I worked for a different HN group airline, BCA, and for the most part they run them the same. Being "based" somewhere means nothing. They will just deadhead you out of your base, and then you layover 3-4 nights out of another airport where you stay in a horrific dump, in the middle of nowhere.

If you are going to be "based" somewhere, you want it to be where you operate out of, and you will want to do one day trips.

Hainan Airlines to order 50 737 MAX 8s

dignified 19th Jul 2014 21:55

Pay your ticket first, we will refund you later, or never

Has anyone gone for Chinese jobs were you pay your own ticket or have to pay last minute at the airport the tax portion of their own airline ticket to attend interviews? Would Hainan Airlines honor this expense whether or not you make it through the long process? How many trips do you have to make to China before you are being offered a job?

Pilot agencies recently complained not to apply for Hainan Airlines, as they never received the funds to reimburse candidates for their expenses on their first, second, third, and so many trips they made; Most recently I read on a French newspaper about pilots finally being hired after 14 months of waiting period. One would wonder if they ever needed foreign pilots or whether they are really interested to hire someone non Chinese? Do Chinese pilots speak English?

Most recently a Hainan airlines ad appeared on this forum, apparently an inside job from some A330 guru who works with an understaffed team who can barely keep track of the pilots they are recruiting. Rumors has it that the Nazis have created a new enclave in China, now that Chancellor Merkel seem to be flirting with the Chinese premier for more business opportunities. Has anything changed at Hainan Airlines recruitment compared to former pilot agencies doing the job?

Anyone from Hainan Airlines, preferably an independent unbiased foreign pilot who would like to comment on this? Are you people living in China with your families? Is there a chance to commute and make a living?, does Hainan honors your contract whether it is through agency of direct hire? Are you happy in China with all the stories about pollution and regimental practices?

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Salary on the 330 is 12.500 us after being released (which can take up to one and a half year, YES, you are reading one and a half year).**This, of course, from the moment they call you to "report to fleet".**Before that and from the moment you applied you can stay over a year at home waiting for the "report to fleet call".**Bonus of 3.000 is paid every six month but at company's discretion, which means you are a kind of "hostage of the pending bonus" until the end of the six month period for 18.000...
I have to leave now and will come back later with more insider information.
Cheers!

emergencyexit 16th Oct 2014 21:23

Rosters is issued 15 days by 15 days and announced one or two days before they apply.**They are of course subject to constant changes and the biggest issue is that you cannot plan on the days you'll be at home, especially if you commute.**Forget to meet appointments with your dentist, car repair etc. unless they take you last minute.**Your wife and kids are also better be prepared to adapt to a last minute style of living.**We witnessed the case of a colleague who missed the birth of his baby while the baby came exactly on time known for months.**This "missing" was caused by a bad mood scheduler who just enjoyed his power of playing/fooling with the poor pilot's most important things in life...

flyro 17th Oct 2014 09:31

Thank you very much for the information so far.Just to clarify ,haianan is advertising one month ON,one month OFF,how does that work ?When they say "base" what do they mean, operating base?
About that "report to fleet",in that case we need to wait for an unknown period?

Thanks again,

Cheers.

Just got back from their process.
It was all a surprise party. Every day was badly organised and more and more expenses were not covered by Hainan. The recruitment team had no clue about the pilot specific questions. Everything was in the hands of Mrs. Angela. Useless. And she has the authorisation to nothing. She can not even authorise a taxi transportation if 5 more people in different offices don't countersign. But she is in charge. Expect zero help when it comes to important matters.
After a week of non organisation I decided to quit the idea and went back home. I never got anything reimbursed.
A330 bases are Beijing and Shenzen (if you don't have kids).
Living in PEK is expensive. Descent townhouse will cost 4-5k$ a month, 3 bedroom appartment 2,5-3k$.
Hainan has a contract with one school corporation only. So kids go there otherwise they don't contribute. I have 2 kids (5&7 y.o.), the top up from my pocket is 30-35k$ per year all together. The exact number is "classified" information. They did not pass it to us.
Mostly flying domestic, 1 flight a month international.
The max money comes to 251k$, rest is only possible school and medical allowance that never gets paid to you.
All this is for residents after tax.
Medical you top up 1.8k$ for adults and .9k$ for kids per year.
From what I have seen it is something I do not recommend for family guys that have some years to work....
It is a good money bag if you are there alone and it is a job that will provide you with a cherry on top of your already existing pension cake. You must be ready to say:' F...this I am going home!" after 2 months if you don't like it. And not flick once.
It is up to everyone to make up their own minds.
My info is less than a month old.
Cheers!

I am not Loco, pero soy cuerdo.

emergencyexit 4th Nov 2014 09:15

I believe that regarding the number of aircraft Hainan is contemplating in the coming months they will upgrade conditions at offer. Nevertheless, they are totally incapable of changing the attitude towards foreign pilots who are disconsidered with subtle hatred and psychological harassment. If one thinks he can take that versus the money, he must feel free to try the game.

100 years of solitude

For the folks of this part of the world, I may see it as natural reaction, specially when they are inspired by morons under the name DGM & Trusted Advisor; If this is what a westerner can contribute into a society with such mentality of let's save the company money under the pretense of let me show you how?;then case closed. In average, the last foreigners hired here since year 2013 have spent over 12-14 months on recruitment, another 9-12 months on line training, when in essence we were told during induction, that we would be 3 months tops under training before being released on the line. These above are facts, not rants at least from the right seat perspective on the narrow bodies; There is no shortage of pilots here, they told all of us they need us ALL urgently here, when in essence they do not have sufficient staff to man even refunds for expenses invited applicants spent in coming this far. a pathetic outfit:yuk:

hugeduck 5th Nov 2014 06:45

This year may not be a good timing to apply to HNA. They are undergoing some personal changes and policy changes. Current pilots working there do not like the new contracts they are presenting and the new recruiting manager. Hold your application and wait till things are clear.

" BCA @ Hainan Base for PIC A320"
BCA hires A320 captains.
Hainan Air stopped their A320 CCQ program.
