Msd aviation in india & souther aviation service (sas) in colombo

Pilots, if you are a fresh pilots with low hours, please read carefully this story and the rest is up to you to believe or disbelieve.

A friend of mine is an EASA license holder, here is the story. Last year, Intex Aero has advertised on it's website about a lovely program which will be conducted by MSD AVIATION (INDIA) for A320 type rating and 300 hours line training in Sri Lanka. Since the program was offering an employment with SriLankan Airline (check Intex Aero facebook account) he signed up for the program. The contract did not state any third party involvement during the course. After reaching Colombo, he found that there is another agent called SAS based in Colombo who is mainly responsible to conduct the whole training on behalf of MSD AVIATION. It also turns out that the type rating will be conducted with SriLankan Airline but the line training will be conducted with either Mihin Lanka or Maldivian Airline (statement was obtained from SAS CEO). My friend along with other pilots who met there to conduct the training had no option but to proceed. Initially MSD AVIATION told the pilots that SriLankan Airline TRTO is approved by EASA authority. Pilots were happy that they can endorse A320 type rating into their EASA license. Boom, it turns out that TRTO is NOT approved by EASA but only their SIM is approved since it's level D. Again, the pilots had no option but to continue since they have been promised by MSD AVIATION and SAS that they will conduct the line training straight after completing the type rating. After successfully completing the type rating they asked the pilots to go home and wait for couple of weeks to complete their paper work to start the line. Boom, it's been 9 months and they have never given any confirmation, in fact, SAS and MSD AVIATION did not sign any agreement with any airline to start any line training. Trouble is, why MSD AVIATION did not include any responsibilities of SAS in the contract? What are the terms and conditions if any party failed to deliver the rest of the training? What are the refund condition? Non of these were highlighted in the contract. I feel sorry for my friend and his colleagues to be bullied by those agents. It's just sad of how those agents stole their money and their dreams away. In fact, they are still promoting such a program in their website. To those pilots who are willing to deal with those agents, think Million times before you throw your hard working money to those agents for P2F scheme.

Then why did your friend sign the contract? Is he s****d or desperate or both? Did he not know that MSD already owes money to people who paid them to get jobs with Lion Air. Yes! A number of people never got their money back from MSD when Indonesia brought in the "250 hrs on type" rule.

Few would feel sorry for such people. He was actually trying to jump the merit queue using money. I would not expect a P2f(er) to have any self respect but just in case he does, please request him to not let this go. He should atleast file a suit against MSD in an Indian court.

I agree with you about how low level MSD AVIATION CEO reputation is. He is trying to be profissional by wearing a smart shirt in doing business while he is a thief, no doubt. This program was started by Intex Aero in Germany to advertise for MSD AVIATION. Many organizations directed pilots to contact Intex Aero who runs many programs. That's the trap. MSD AVIATION used European agent to advertise for their program to increase pilots trust specially EASA holders.

MSD sham

THANK YOU KICHAL FLYER!

I can confirm MSD is a disgrace to Aviation. I think ICAO should confiscate whatever AOC they might have by lobbying pressure o their resident government. I pushed them to their limits in getting guarantees(as I suspected them)..and they shied away. Now their latest scam is dragging Maldivian Airlines in the scam.Their latest advert is on aviation jobs.com .This unscrupulous gang/pseudo TRTO stsrted as a kind of "flying school" scam and graduated to alliances with shady ailines like Lion Air. Lion Air...hehe!

Trying to buy a type rating isn't necessarly bad...as if you wait for a free type rating to come along yoiu might sit till your licenses and ambition expires.Even experienced pilots with ATPL and a few thosand hours experience get stuck when it comes to fulfilling hours on type...even if 100hrs! I think recruiters are the ones spoiling the market. They should not be asking for type ratings and further to that experience on type if one already posses ATPL(not frozen but hard earned ATPL)...that was how it was done in pre year 2; digital generation.Yes I agree fresh CPLs or frozen ATPLs shouldn't think they can get the priviledge of riding on a complex airplane for pay just because they can get a type rating added to their license.I also think MPLs who train on type rated sims only should be abolished. It has spoilt the training and recruitmen system in my opinion.Buying a small turboprop rating to pave the way to gai ATPL experience is by far better or the individual and system.

Hi Kichalflyer,

If your friend google'd on MSD before he should have known their history with Lion Air.

Even with them MSD did not put up the deal to most guys. MSD is a scam and only a few get in because of luck, not MSD's great work.
MSD even asked a montly 'fee' to the Indian guys in Lion Air of a couple of hundred USD a month. Make that x15 people, and the money keeps rolling in every month.
Enough money to fund adds and commercials in magazine's to scam other people. The ones that paid MSD to get into Lion never made it into Lion Air, but had to pay MSD anyway. Money money money.

Hi All,

Has anyone had any dealings with MSD Aviation with their current A320 co-pilot type rating and confirmed job?

Could MSD be different now that they're doing confirmed jobs instead of 500hrs on type? Or still a scam?

I've been looking through all the forums and can only find details from Lion Air days.

Thanks
