Indonesians smoke a lot of kretek which includes cloves and it smells like a joint if you've never smelled it before. It's not a narcotic so you can smoke as much as you like before or after a flight.

I had a colleague in a former company who was married to a rather nice lady from the Netherlands. He liked a Beer, he smoked, and I am fairly sure not just Marlboro.

Not sure about all the countries around the globe, but in Australia, the CAAS does random screening of aircrews coming into the country. Testing for alcohol and drugs. While marijuana may be semi-legal in some countries, in places it is illegal to use and use by a pilot is considered breaking the law.

I have been tested twice coming in Australia , they take a breath test , urine test sometimes and take a mouth swab.
