Vietnam Airlines captain to face fine for allowing model to pose in cockpit | DTiNews - Dan Tri International, the news gateway of Vietnam

Hmm the FO is sitting on left seat.. i guess the FO didnt want to be seen as a FO.. right seat... haha... be proud of your position... :ok:

LindbergB767 13th May 2013 07:10

I think that both seats were empty while the aircraft was in cruise
VAAC is punishing them to let a pax IN but I think their license should be revoked
How pilots can do stupid think like that
2 Indian pilots did about the same think 2 weeks ago leaving the cockpit while 2 FA were at the control for several minutes
We're the worlds is going?.. I have been flying for 40 years and I never tough pilots could do something like that

PappyJ 13th May 2013 08:17

The world has changed in those 40 years; especially in places like Vietnam & India. Let's face it, nepotism has no place in aviation, but that is how a good number of the locals get there jobs as 'pilots'. The irresponsibility can be seen when they do things as stupid as this.

Of course, there are always exceptions and I'll admit that there are a handful of very good local pilots at Vietnam Airlines. However - sadly - they will all be judged by the actions of the majority, who are quite frankly, just not mature enough for the responsibility that they've been handed...as clearly seen in the photos.

I think their license should be revoked
Yes, it should be! In any other place in the world, except maybe India, they would be on there way to prison! Their licenses should be permanently revoked, and they should face criminal prosecution.

FYI...posted in the "Perth News"....

...The captain Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Y was fined $333 and the co-pilot Nguyen Xuan Hai $143 over the incident....

Hey Paul Jeeves! Being the humble guy as it seems but posting names of the offenders... You are just another hypocrite.

Another example. But, this time the Airline did the right thing and the pilots were Fired!

A TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A320-200, registration PR-MHU performing flight JJ-3081 from Recife,PE to Rio de Janeiro Galeao,RJ (Brazil), was enroute when a passenger, a well known Brasilian singer, was invited to take the captain's seat and posed in the seat to fly the aircraft, that was on autopilot at that time with the first officer in his seat. The captain took his seat again and the aircraft continued for a safe landing in Rio de Janeiro.

4 photos showing the singer in the captain's seat were published by the singer on his site the following day, but later removed. Brazilian society media had already picked up on the story on Apr 29th quoting the singer to now being experienced as a first officer.

The airline initially claimed those photos were taken on the ground, but admitted after analysis of the photos, that the aircraft was in flight evidenced by engine instruments showing the engines operating and the gear lever in the up position as well as the primary flight and navigation displays showing the aircraft in cruise flight. Both pilots were fired as result of the occurrence.

Brazil's ANAC have opened an investigation into the occurrence.

The photos showing the singer in the cockpit in flight:

What makes you think that having this 'model' on the controls is more risky than having one of their 'captains' on the controls?

PappyJ 16th May 2013 20:52

I never considered it that way. In fact, given that she'd be less likely to fiddle with things that she didn't understand, it may have been safer having her in the seat! Good Call.
