Lion Air FO salary

G'day all!
Was wondering if anyone has any info on the Lion Air salary for a type rated FO. Also if they have an option to commute, and if not is housing, or an allowance provided. Any latest info on current conditions there would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Salary??? In Lion Air FO's don't have salary, they work for free...However stupid it may seem!!!

nostep 15th Mar 2013 01:47

You have to remember you PAY Lion for the pleasure to work for them

Speedy737 15th Mar 2013 07:40

I'm not a P2F FO!!! I have over 3000 hrs on type. Just want to know if they take DEFO and the T's and C's if anyone can help. Thanks

Meathead Pilot 16th Mar 2013 05:15

Speedy, if you have 3k on type you might have a shot. I have heard of senior FO's from malev hired and upgraded to the left seat. FO take home pay is around 4-4.5K USD for around 100-110 hours flying per month. I don't work for them BTW!

Speedy737 16th Mar 2013 15:20

Thanks Meathead! That's a fair bit of flying! Do you by any chance have any info on Travira Air. I believe they have an NG. Also, I won't be looking at an upgrade just yet...don't have an ATPL.

Good day mate, I work for the subsidiary of lion air. Hopefully i can shed some light for you.
As you are experienced you have a good chance of getting hired, I presume you will have to mail the company directly as the pay to fly scheme has been cancelled due to the new regulations in Indonesia.
Salary - it will depend on the contract you are given, my friends in lion take home an avg of 4-5 grand a month with 90-110 hours of flying.
commuting - we are all based in Jakarta, you will start your flights from Jakarta and carry on flying and ron at your destination.
housing - depends again on your contract, as far as i am aware the foreign pilots have an allowance of 4million idr ( roughly 400 usd)
Hope this helps

Speedy737 17th Mar 2013 14:25

Thanks Gtr21!! Is 400 USD enough to rent a decent place in Jakarta?

Gtr21 18th Mar 2013 05:47

No worries speedy, The 400 usd will get you a decent place away from the central jakarta but if you want to stay in central it be a bit more expensive.
In central Jakarta you are looking at 8-900 usd for a two bed apartment.
In Indonesia there is a lot of options for accommodation thou, most the guys do share a 2 bed room as you wont be here most the time and the 400 usd more or less covers it .
There is also something called a kost kostan, and if you get a executive one its like having a motel room, all services inclusive (wifi, electricity, cleaning, laundry, en-suite and security) and will set you back 4-500 usd , avg kost will set you back 2-300 usd.

Lion air

Hello everyone

I'm new in this forum so I'm sorry if I ask something it has already been answered in other posts.

Does anyone know if you can apply for a captain position through the Lion air site?

Or is through a broker?

Speedy737 18th Mar 2013 16:24

Thanks again gtr21!! I think living away from central Jakarta would be a better option...don't need the crowds! Just wouldn't want to be too far from the airport though. Lots to consider. Cheers!

Gtr21 19th Mar 2013 04:26

@speedy737 no worries mate, good luck

@davidcruzed you can email lion air recruitment directly, the company are short of captains and they will more than likely respond to you, a lot of captains do come through agency thou as it cuts out the hassle of doing things by yourself

@lovepanam hahaha well this is a big order, I for one are hoping they will change the new rule of needing 250 hours on type to get the work permit or revising it so it doesn't apply to pilots already in Indonesia working.
another thing is the order is under lion group not lion air, so this could go into the other airlines started by lion (batik, malindo) and for the new bases there is rumors of happening. all we can do is wait and see

Contact

Hi

Anybody could help with contacts in lion for recruitment please.

Even via a pm would be alright

jetjockey696 11th Sep 2022 11:20

Jasondeno.. Lion Air and the rest....dont hire expats anymore... accept... Susi Air. Lion and all subsidiaries, Sriwijaya and Garuda have there own flight schools to produce FOs, no need for expat, besides they can lock in there recruits for 15+year bond.

Jasondeno.. sadly you are a few years too late for the airlines.. you can try Susi Air.. they do recruit now and again..

YFloyd 29th Sep 2022 06:32

Lion Air scaled down their schedules and there are plenty of Indo pilots needing flying time. However, you probably can expect that by mid to late 2023 they will be needing expat pilots again.....
Timing will depend upon if there is a recession in early 2023 & the exact duration.
