Best "Career" Flight School; Training in Philippines
 

Not really sure where to post this, to decided to post here..

I currently have my U.S. Private Pilot certificate and have recently decided I want to take the career path to be an airline pilot and chase this childhood dream ;). After my recent trip overseas, I have recently been introduced to the idea about training/working abroad in the Philippines (dual citizenship). Currently looking into Clark area.

Question is, to people familiar with the subject, this be a wise decision regarding training? Just hearing about the job prospects in Asia vs. the U.S is very attractive to me. My rational is that, if I want to work in the Philippines/Asia, should I train there?

Also, what should would be the "best" fit for Career choice in the Clark area? I know of the PAAT with Cebu Pacific, but who knows if that school will have open applications..and I have a list of local schools but would like to hear opinions for the Clark area.

be careful when you are choosing philippines for your flight training. lot of fake schools provide fake "packages"

Please do your home work on Clark, There are a lot of good and bad information on this site re a certain company, offering training in Clark itself.

Definitely have bookmarked Omni. Currently looking into Aviatour as well. I have heard of certain schools with issues but still am skeptical of what I have read and heard regarding their practices. I plan to visit these schools personally to 'investigate'. If any students in the area who can comment and place input that would be much appreciated!

I'd go for Leading Edge... run by ex-airforce cols and bgens, instructors top class and they'll get you done in well less than a year. Ground School and sim in Manila, flying in San Fernando, La Union. They have experience of CAAP licence conversions also from FAA, JAA etc.

Regarding your other questions... depends on your plans for the future. Probably best to do the Rating in the Phils (in which case... should you not opt or go with CebuPac, you've really got only one choice at Clark). For initial license (CPL/IR) issue If you intend to go back to US at some point, it may be better to get an FAA licence and convert to CAAP... as it will be harder to do the other way. You'll be looking at P1.5-2Mill for initial licence and then P1.5Mill for Rating (although think CebuPac and Air Asia pay for rating) in the Philippines.

Philippines is definitely a good place to be for jobs at the moment (if you have dual nationality).

aviatour was good before, and it's cessnas ruled the Philippines airspace once upon a time. now it's days are gone.

i work sort of part time with fly fast inc. its a nice school and they are doing good, by offering very cheap rates. let me know if you are interested just to check out.

You have it all wrong, flight training is much cheaper and better in California than anywhere in the Philippines. There are probably only 3 working instrument approaches on Luzon..... Get your ratings in the US and come over. If you have Philippine citizenship you should have no problem getting a job. Of course that is now and it could change in a year or two.
