Medical reports for Class 1 renewal.

Hello, This is my first renewal at AFS Chandigarh...

Just a quick question who have gone through the medical renewal...
Do we need to give the test report for Lipid Profile also if we are under normal BMI limit or it is compulsory to attach that report?
On the safe side i have attached it but there is a little increase of something in the test which is not within normal limits, so i am a little worried that the AFS guys may create a problem out of this for me. Have my medical in another 2 days...What should i do?

Thanks.!!!

In the medical office where you conduct your BAC before flight there usually is a chart of what is required for each interval based on your age. Also the medical issued by the IAM group will write what additional tests that are required for your next medical.

The advice from the majority will tell you do not volunteer any information that is not required. You will open a Pandora's Box which may lead to more problems down the road.

There have been chaps who've shown up without any bloodwork as it was not indicated on their initial issued medical certificate. Check with others in your airline for additional information as each medical facility follows their own dictaes

Good luck:ok:

I have a suggestion based on my experience at AFS Palam.

Visit the medical centre a cpl of days before ur medical and meet the person (Non officer, usually a sargeant or corporal) who oversees the medical and sends you to the various departments for your tests before sending you to meet the Senior Medical officer at the base for the final evaluation.
Ask this person about what tests you need to bring beforehand.
Also ask him who needs to sign/stamp the reports.
for example if you work for an airline, the company doctor needs to sign/stamp the reports for verification. If you are unemployed, like me, I just had the pathologist stamp his medical council registration details on every page (all qualified doctors have such a stamp)

Worst case scenario, walk in wthout any test reports and they will do the bloodwork in their lab. couple of people did that on the day I was there for renewal.

BMI = Weight In Kgs/ (Height in Mts)^2

If it is over 25 for Guys/ 24 for the Ladies, then they ask for the Lipid Profile and stuff. So if your BMI is below the limits walk in like a Boss, get the medical done with no need to take any reports.

captjns@-During my initial medical i was not told about any specific tests in the next medical nor i went through the lipid test as i was under BMI , i called them up today and they were not sure that they want lipid profile or not nor i am ...My BMI says i am 25.65...and the normal limit is below 25.

stiknruddr@-Brother have my medical day after and i am in delhi right now...so would not be able to reach before...yeah what i can do is ask a couple of people their when i reach before handing over my reports to the main department.Thanks.

St [email protected] slightly up...What do you say would be their any grace....i mean i am just 2kg up my normal weight...??

P.S-thanks all for your kind replies.:)

Hello Ppruners (didnt want to start a new thread so stating my query here)

I had gone to Air force stn, Chandigarh a couple of days back for my first class 1 renewal with all my reports and everything in good shape, every thing went well until the doctor examining ENT noted my BP and pulse which turned out 94 and gave a me a "temporary unfit for 4 weeks on account of tachycardia".

I requested him that high pulse could be due to a lot of factors and please re consider but he was determined to give me a unfit and referred me to AFCME, New Delhi.

I visited AFCME, New Delhi today with the revised CA-35 stating my unfit reason but the guy there told me that -

1. A letter will be sent by DGCA to me stating the date as to when i have to visit AFCME now and get the tests done, he said which all tests i require would be also mentioned in the same letter which i cant seem to digest.

2. I dont know whether AFCME will do all the tests right from scratch or do tests only related to high pulse rate.

3. If its mandatory to get the tests done at AFCME or we can get them done outside.

Any one who got a temp unfit on renewals please guide me.

Thanks

P.S : I am amazed at how the AFS, chandigarh guys measure bmi, for me at 162 cms and weight of 71 kgs and 20 years, he said am supposed to weigh only 53 kgs :eek: - the bmi calc says for me that i enter normal region below 65 kgs.

I have not gotten a temp unfit (so far) but I know someone who has so maybe I can help

2. I dont know whether AFCME will do all the tests right from scratch or do tests only related to high pulse rate.
They will only do the test related to the condition which made you "unfit"

3. If its mandatory to get the tests done at AFCME or we can get them done outside.
Most probably they should tell you in the letter what tests need to be done outside. Or else they will conduct everything at AFCME. I would try to contact Mr Vipin Sharma who is the JDGMS at DGCA [email protected]

He is a very helpful person and can guide you.

Don't worry regular habit of them. On my 2011 medical at IAM they warned me I was "underweight" (I was 65kg and 6ft tall) and told me I need to put on weight or else it would cause problems.

The recent medical in 2012 I weighed 78kg and they informed me to "loose weight"
The best thing to do in such situations is to swallow your pride and say yes to whatever they have to say lest they give you trouble.

These so-called physicians have never practiced medicine since they graduated from “Frederick Frankenstein’s School of Medicine”:}.

That said, follow the instructions to the letter, which is written on the issued TMU Certificate. It’s an absolute crime that your livelihood is in the hands of these butchers:mad:.

Good luck to you.

@ rahul red,
Thanks a lot for your help mate. I will definitely contact Mr Vipin after receiving the letter from dgca. Called the medical cell and you were right, i will get a letter stating all the tests required to be done from outside.

@captjns
Thanks for the sympathy, in this part of the world there is nothing much i can do than following every word of what they write, its like a dictatorship where the medical officer doesnt want to believe the ECG reports and pulse rates monitored by an advanced machine but his age old method of holding my hand and measuring the pulses :ugh:
