DGCA LAPSED MEDICAL RENEWAL

Greetings Everyone,

I last did my DGCA Class 1 medical assessment in April 2009 then i moved to a different country on some work. Now i am going back to india by march end & trying to get my CPL conversion done & i have already cleared all the papers.

I was wondering if someone could help me with the procedure to get the Medical renewal done or should i get a fresh Medical done since it will be almost 3 years since my last medical come April 2012?

Please give me details on how to go through about it!
Appreciate you help!

Thanks

What you'll have to do is firstly get an appointment with AFCME, New Delhi or IAM IAF Bangalore. I prefer you get that appointment by filling up a form easily available on DGCA website and speed posting it.

Second, you have to obtain an NOC from DGCA (Safdarjung) for renewing your medical (Form also available on DGCA website). I am pretty sure you have to do your initial again (lapsed initial as they call it). Do this only after you're certain of the appointment date.

Third, after you've received a confirmation for appointment, fill up the PMR forwarding form and speed post it. Make sure they have forwarded your PMR which can be checked on DGCA website as well.

Since we are on the topic of medicals,

Is it a hard and fast rule that every 4th medical needs to be an initial Class 1 medical and needs to be done at AFMCE/Banglore or something like that? Because as far as the CARS go, it does state so but it also states thats its at the discretion of the DGCA...

For AFCME Delhi you can book an appointment date by sending them an email :)

Their email address is [email protected]

Include the following information

a) License No./File No
b) Name of Pilot/Candidate
c ) Date of Birth/Age
d) Date of last medical at IAM/AFCME/MEC EAST
e) Requested date
f) Contact No

Medical in Bangalore

Well regarding 4th Renewal in Bangalore.

Does it take 2 days to clear medical in Bangalore or it can be finished it in one day.
Some of my friends said it takes 2 days and some said in one day, they complete it so that the student can go home the same day (i.e starts at 7.45am and ends at 1.30pm)
Is this information true??

You have to get an NOC issued from DGCA for delayed medical ( form is available on the dgca website) .. get a date issued for initial medical from either afcme delhi , bangalore and i believe theres one more centre..NOC is valid only for a month so apply for the noc first and then apply for a medical date accordingly.... time consuming process but thats the way to go about it .

@Torque Skylon:

It usually takes a whole day at IAM but you can't be sure all the time, if they find you alright and have no complications, they might squeeze you in and let you go the same day. There's pilots that I saw the other day that were running around for sometime trying to get themselves signed off, they were told to come back a few days later with some reports. It depends, you know.

@ pier39lab

that true! Any complications will lead to the next day!!
thks for the info. :)

I did my first class 2 in 2007 but due to some reason I could not do my class 1 and my previous class 2 medical was lapsed. I again did my class 2 in june 2012. so will I have the same file no. or will I be issued a new file no.

Query Regarding Class 1 renewal

I have my class 1 renewal next week and I am supposed to take my reports with me and I found out that i have high cholestrol 205 triglycerides and 41 VLDL cholestrol to be exact... i know its high but i dont know whats the consequence of this on my renewal. Will they give me a TU ( Temporary Unfit ) or they will ask me do more tests or anything else? Any help would be appreciated on this topic. And no I cant take fake reports cause this year they have specifically asked to bring it from a certified lab with proper attestation reports from private lab are not welcome which was not the case till last year

@ cg87.....Look,now the only reason why they would have asked you to get a lipid profile would be because you were (a)overweight in the earlier renewal (the one you did last year).Or (b) may be your lipid profile was slightly high last year itself. One of the 2 applies to you i believe, isnt it?
In my case they checked my weight, found me overweight, asked me to get a lipid profile test, found that i was borderline on cholestrol. They then declared me fit stating that i need to get lipid profile test done for my next medicals and wrote that on my assessment too.
What i did was walk/run jog for atleast a month before my next medical. And my weight dropped down drastically. So the next medical even though i carried my lipid profile, because i was not overweight, they didn't ask me my lipid profile test report. This happened at IAM ,bangalore :)
So if point (a) applies to you i suggest you diet a little and walk for an hour and believe me,point (b) will never be applicable to you.....All the best
