Manila Airport to auction abandoned aircraft
Some interesting classics, will be interesting to see what happens to them.
The MANILA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY (MIAA) is calling on the owners of the following abandoned aircrafts to claim and remove/dismantle their aircrafts which are parked at the General Aviation Area, NAIA Complex, Pasay City. The MIAA will be utilizing the areas for its operational requirements. Further, the wrecked and rusty conditions and state of disrepair of the aircrafts render them an eyesore and health and safety hazards. Failure of the owners to make known their claim over the aircrafts within thirty (30) days from publication hereof will compel MIAA to impose a charge as lease of the area at the rate of P31.54/sqm/month and commence the process of auctioning the aircrafts. Here is the previous owner info per the FAA database. FAA Registry - Aircraft - N-Number Inquiry
Looks like it used to be based in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. |

dl_88 - wow! it would be nice to own a connie! |
anyone got any more info of when and where the auction will be ?
|
Ok, you three blokes sort out who's going to own
that Connie and then I'll fly it for ya - cheap! :) BTW Mr ATE since you're around I'll just need an endorsement and some engineering course notes. Ta. |
God, don't let them junk the Connie!
|
Looked over it today. Not too bad considering it's been exposed to the elements for 2 decades. Apparently a drug bust hence the smashed cockpit windscreen.

Which is the aircraft to the right of the Connie ?
I thought it was an Antonov, But then there is no Low wing AN.... |
Looks like a douglas or a convair. Hard to tell form the rear.

I have rung every number and politely been referred to somebody else who never answers
I have emailed the relevant departments including the chap who wrote the letter. Nothing. We just have to keep the scrappers away from the Connie. I have seen pictures of a fuselage on a semi trailer so it can be removed but my yard is not big enough. Should also make an effort to save the DC 3's. If anybody hears of plans for the Aircraft, can they post here please. |
