Susi Air - Flying Info
Hey guys,
I have an Interview with Susi in a few weeks, just wondering if anyone knows if the Caravans they operate up there are equipped with ADF's? Trying to decide whether or not to do an ADF endorsement before I leave for Jakarta. Any Info would be very much appreciated. Cheers |

A good friend of mine works with suzi air , he got recruited in jan 2011. I remember him telling me that the interview with the chief pilot was quite difficult and they expected him to have a sound knowledge about the caravan's ! and he was asked a question like how many feet is there in a nautical mile and u gotta calculate mentally .then describe in detail on how do u conduct an instrument approach and they want you to be really articulate . then some tests on the computer where u gotta shoot an ILS ( throttle will be controlled by the examiner ) . and brush up on the G1000's aswell . gud luck with ur interview !!:ok:

They fly via GPS all the time. The G1000s are used at bases other than Papua highlands.
Occasional VOR approaches and ILS approaches depending on which base. NDB approaches are non existent, they are merely there as white elephants. I hope this helps. Cheers. |

Also don't forget that when you fly in indonesia, the only relevance your aus license has is if it has cpl, ir, me. Although all of then are required in aus operations in indonesia work a little differently, not something I would worry about.

NDB's
Most of them are on the map and not powered unless prior arrangements..Fuel for the generator is expensive.
Even if it was up and transmitting, you would use the WAAS plate and go for the coordinates instead. If the beacon was working, it would just be a procedural backup. Tell Susi I miss that expensive Gin.:D |
Hi everybody,
someone knows if Susi air, is operating regularly the 2 helicopters A119 and A109? And what type of ops they do? I'm both helicopter and Airplane Pilot, but i would prefer to try as helicopter Pilot. They answer to my e-mail, after 1 moths, with tons of documets about the company, and about the recruting process. But I didn't understand if is only for airplanes.... Regards Matt |
Instead of starting a new thread I'm just going to kickstart this one.
I have just sent in my general questionnaire along with all the required documentation to Susi. Let's pretend I have now been invited to the interview, what should I study? I know they are very keen on knowledge about the Van so I will study that hard. How much ATPL questions do they grill you on? Any particular subject? Any input would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi Davve,
They dont grill you on any ATPL questions. In the past they would grill you on different things depending if you had an instructor rating or not. The guy who used to do the interviews has moved on to much better things, so im not certain what the questions are. In the past you would have to explain how a wing stalled using the whiteboard. possibly some MET stuff. Look at an approach plate and discuss what looked good and bad about it. How you may handle a captain that seems to be doing the wrong thing etc. The SIM check is relatively simple and the exam on the Van is ok too.. If your an Aussie you may need to study things like MORA and MOCA, things that are not used here as well as STANDARD holding patterns, which is a little different seeing we have both left and right patterns here too.. I have been through the interview process with them yes.. Will be there soon.. Instructors were grilled in the past on lift/drag, more detailed stalling all basic aerodynamics for an instructor.. Good luck TWT |

Susi Air C208 hours Vs. JAA Logbook
Guys,
How do you register your flight time on the JAA logbook? Do the european authorities accept these hours? Do you log them as multi pilot and co pilot? Thks |
C208 is certified as a Single Pilot Aircraft {SPA}, It doesn't matter if you are flying it as Multi crew Op. I had a couple of mates in your boat flying BE200 Kingairs. The only prob was the European Country Authorities we are in wouldn't accept the hrs as Multi Pilot for ATPL issue so they got CPL's initially even though more than 1500 etc hours.
From memory they were logging it as P2 why wouldn't they accept your hours, suggest you get you logbook stamped by your Company and it is worth getting a service letter from your company stating you worked there as whatever your doing and flew X amount of hours on whichever Planes you flew there just in case. |

If you read through all the Susi threads you will find the answer to this question.If the country your in states you are flying multi crew due local regulations then your own country has to recognise this(if ICAO).I and several collegues had our hours certified by UK CAA copilot hours as p2.If that helps.
The only place I had a problem was in Africa where the lady in TCAA said I should of logged p1/us.I didn't agree with her reasoning 'Caravan only need 1 pilot it have one engine' |

My European licence is from Portugal - INAC. They donīt want to accept my hours. I have to send an email to the head of the department to explain my case. If pilot from the UK have registered these hours as P2 (not accepting them to unfreeze the ATPL) they should accept the hours too! I am wrong? Need help! Tks PA |
