Recency in the US with TCCA license
Hi guys,
I hold a Canadian CPL with Multi-IFR, my recency lapsed by the time I managed to pass the DGCA exams. I planned on going back to Canada for my recency, but for some strange reason my visa was refused twice. Now I plan on going to the U.S as I already have a B1/B2 which they say is sufficient for recency. I contacted various schools and I keep getting conflicting answers and so decided to ask here. 1. Will the DGCA accept recency in the U.S with a license converted from Canada 2. Do I need a TSA clearence 3. I have 30hrs on a PA-34. Is it ok to do my recency on the duchees. 4. How long does the conversion normally take. I've heard answers from 1 week to 4 months. I've done my research but could you guys suggest some good schools in the U.S for recency. thanks in advance. |
Recency in the US with TCCA license
Respected Sir,
1. Yes DGCA will accept it they are not concerned weather u do it in India, USA ,Canada or even Mars ;) . I know a person who just did the opposite of what you are doing and he is working with Jet now. 2. To do any flying in USA u need a TSA clearance. (TSA clearance is a srs thing). 3. BE-76 is okay but do 3 hrs on Seneca GFT by Day/ GFT night/ IR 2 approaches (if Multi-IR is requested) Piece of advice* Sir try and finish up fast coz dgca is changing n twisted rules everyday, every hour. |
1. Yes you can.
2. TSA clearance(for single, multi and Instrument) are definitely required and this can take a month at least. 3. No you have to do your recency/checks on the multi you wish to be endorsed. Unless you're willing to do a minimum of 10hrs on the duchess, you're better off on the Seneca. 4. Current waiting times for issue of a license is an average of 3.5 months. Hope this helps. |
