Cebu Pacific Hiring Situation

Hi All:

I've come across the 'net a number of contract positions (FO's & Capt- Manila / Cebu bases) both for the ATR and A320 which I assume are for Cebu Pacific. Are they really having difficulty manning right now?

As for ATR FO, does 500TT still get you an interview?

Many Thanks.

capt. solipsist 24th Apr 2011 14:44

500hrs AND 20hrs ME

takamasa 24th Apr 2011 16:16

500 tt, 20 me?
that's it?

captbisdak 24th Apr 2011 22:22

@capt.S:

Are you sure it's just 20ME and not 200ME? The former seems too low.

Am I correct to say that all ATR orders have been delivered and that current pilot reqts are as a result of natural attrition / movements?

So, the 1500hr reqt. in the CP web site applies to local A320 FO?

Again, Thanks.

capt. solipsist 25th Apr 2011 05:32

I am sure. At least that's the offer to my nephew by the chief pilot himself. Oh, did I mention the chief's my friend? :cool:

(But seriously, I'm pretty sure the same rqmts apply to everybody.)

capt. solipsist

i believe u r the person we want to meet.

i dun know if they have started calling people for interivew.

also isn't it there's a law stating companies in the philippines cant hire expat FOs?

is the law still valid?

captbisdak 25th Apr 2011 07:35

Thanks Capt.S for the clarification.

@Takamasa:

I was also surprised myself that they were recruiting expat FO's just to think the govt was treating pilot jobs as one of those "protected" industries that was viewed as critical. At first, it was 3months contract + 3 months extension now the websites say 1 year + possible extension. Funny when you dont pay Pinoy pilots close to expat rates and are willing to suffice an expat group for 1 yr + possible extension. Looks like LG is pulling some strings at the palace.

the terms that u mentioned, where did you see ??

i have in talk with the recruitment team couple weeks ago,questioned several questions regarding my flying history.
one of the question was that if i am legal to work in the philippines, obviously i am not. Ever since then,i dont have anything from them.

also i know they are recruitment agencies to hire short term pilots. Dont know if they r using these guys to replace their regular hiring which obviously save them a lot of training cost.

Just flew with a colleague from Spain and he said he has a Spanish friend who just joined bupak some 2 months ago along with other Spaniards...

seems like the labour law is not valid anymore.

i would love to become the next one to call up for interview

just wondering if the company will offer you ticket and accommodation for ur interview?also where do they conduct the type rating training,any ideas?

captbisdak 25th Apr 2011 21:53

@takamasa

I saw the ads in a few sites (try pilothiring.com & Parc or Rishworth).

I also read that they usually conduct the initial interview thru skype. As for TR companies, they use Clark for A320 and AATC Bangkok / KL for ATR.

As for the labor law, big corporations in the Phils have a funny way of getting what they want at times. The current situation is plainly a result of ordering a/c without the manning & training to back up the delivery sched. Also, the issue of brain drain will forever be around in the Phils.

BTW, I note from your posts that you had a number of inputs at the Fragrant Harbour forum, are u also a HK PR?

bisaya 26th Apr 2011 12:24

what are the chances of a type rated Filipino captain joining on expat terms?

takamasa 26th Apr 2011 14:30

captbisdak

Affirmative. However i cant find any jobs in Hong Kong.That's why i am moving my eyes on the airlines in Asia.

btw,thanks for your information, very informative.

mototopo 26th Apr 2011 15:24

Hi!
Any chance to get a direct contact inside Cebu and be hired as expat F/O without passing through agencies?
Any ideas or PM would be really appreciated.

@takamasa:

I am also a HK PR having worked there for 14yrs as an engineer. Have you tried applying for the dragonair pre-qualified route? I was intrigued that they are now offering this route. However, it seems that their screening process is rather slow and the hoops and hurdles that come with their selection (from the threads I read) seem to be over the top.

Back to Cebu Pacific, it seems that there has never been a better time for flying jobs in the Phils. Sad though that the pay is still not in line with other regional operators.

Anyway, good luck with your endeavors.

takamasa 27th Apr 2011 13:01

captbisdak,

you mean you have been working for 5J for years?

i have tried KA but unable to get an offer. I am now seeking for any job opportunities to build up my experience before trying again soon.

I know FO for 5J is a low pay job but experience is more important now.However they just declined to offer me an employment there.

anywayz, time to move on.

Are there any expat captains with cebu that would like to share the good, the bad, and the ugly of working for Cebu. Considering a 3 month contract with them. Thanks for any info.

heidrek 3rd Jun 2011 12:19

CEBUPAC good and not good

First question why so many pilots leave CEBUPAC ????

last years it was no respect for local pilots and less for expats pilots
cebupacific didnt respect contract they wrote.
For example check what happens to expats pilots from Magellan broker ,1 year ago.
Suddenly cebupac decided they didnt need them anymore and two weeks before their block off they said to them to not come back after ,when its normally 3 months notice. of course they didnt pay notice period.
As a lot of airlines avoid any conflict with management, pilot management included .
You have to expect no roster or lot of changes to be blind about MEL. if you want to get your contract renewed.
You will find in this airlines their own IFR approach procedures on VFR airports???? who can believe that youll never find clouds on trajectory of these types procedure except CAAP ??????? You understand why it ll take time to them to get level to fly europe or US.
For this airline the most important is you take-off .......even if you cannot land at destination, they dont care about pax.
Otherwise filipinos are the most kind people in asia, you never get any problems with ground staff or pax........ filipinas girls are very very nice as well
If you can ........try to get Cebu base
I flew 9 months for cebupac based in cebu, (far from management:E) and its one of my best experience.
Maybe, when the cebupac board will realize aircraft are grounded because they loose lot of local pilots and they are not able to get enough expats pilots they will change pilot management..............we can dream :zzz: ha ha ha ha

9ball 3rd Jun 2011 22:11

heidrek

is that you Nowicki? :}

heidrek 4th Jun 2011 13:59

yep........ its me .....
whoever im ....what matter with this topic:} ??????

cris95123 9th Jun 2011 19:41

twin brothers ???

it looks there are 2 nowicki in this forum
then im nowicki too........ but the one who was working in cebupac

i thank heidrek parrot to repeat a part of what i said to captain Avila before to leave cebupac.
I just have to say if i was really thinking that about cebupac..... i dont understand why i just applied again for them.

I think that 9ball i s one of jealous filipino captains.
What doesn't say heidrek is, some filipino pilots ( most of them from airbus) were very jealous of our salary ATR TRI 12500$/month. (13600 by magellan agency)

the only one problem i got in this company is with captain Ramos (ATR assistant chief pilot) who was harassing me by incessant phone calls at 6am in morning , after i came back from flight at 2 am, for a security report old by more than 3 months. Then "pliot management is not better or worse than other airlines. then no use to change it.

If they want to improve pilot management just give more CRM training to capt RAMOS and some fairplay training to 9ball
