I have been flying in China almost 3 years what do you want to know, I am not American but hope my experience will be valid too without that passport...:)

You are happy with Wasinc support? Which support are you kidding me....???

If you come to Tianjin Airlines on the 320 you may end up working for Capitol Airlines instead. I believe the contracts are written that way now, and it might happen. Here is the latest at Capitol.

About 9 months ago There were maybe 15 expats flying the line. 5 of them for about 2 years. 2 have gone back, one leaves in a month. They are going back because they have to to keep their old job back home. Unfortunately the CAAC medical appears to be getting stupid. 2 pilots that were just about line checked failed their 2nd medical, 1 was told he can only fly one more year here (??? figure that one out), and another finds out today whether he passed a blood pressure test (me). If I leave there will be 8 expats left at the end of October. God knows how many they have screened in the last year or so.

I believe of the couple of 5 pilots that finished their contract, most or all were out of work for a month or two because of medical issues.

I have no idea what is going on with medicals in China, but it isn't good. There are loads of jobs right now for bus drivers, so no worries.

If I had it to do all over, I would skip China. :ugh::ugh::ugh:

USMCProbe 26th Sep 2011 01:37

Sorry, I left out 3 more. 2 quit, and one had his contract terminated.

At the current rate of losing pilots, there will be no expats here in 6 months!!!!

Meanwhile at another Prc airline, a pilot has just been medically stood down for being too fit to fly (a triathlete with an apparant heart problem when doing the very mild stress ecg!). Despite Chinese medical advice to the contrary and an angiogram to prove it, the Caac doctors still won't re- certify him.

You are right, there is something going on at Caac medical and its not working for expats. If only there was some logic to it......

Yes, I met this individual first hand who failed the stress test and is a triathlete.

His normal levels returned too quickly and his normal levels were too low. In other words he was in great shape.

I'll verify this. My resting heart rate is in the forties; the docs apparently hadn't seen anything like that before. They were a bit more "liberal" than some others I've heard about; they let me do some pushups to get my heart rate up, then proceeded with the EKG.

I sure do NOT miss those days, the good 'ole "Ass-tronaut" medicals! Survived 6 or 7 of them, smoke and drink as most Chinese pilots do... Hahaha... Yeah, that's the trick! :ok:

CAAC Doctors = An oxymoron... what a JOKE!!! :yuk:

P.S. Hey J, is BB the one with 1 year left flying?

USMCProbe 1st Oct 2011 07:55

Jota Jota;
Yeah, I did my medical with him when I failed the blood pressure. I passed it a couple of weeks later, but heard (unverified by him) that he was given 1 more year.
