Air India-igrua

IGRUA Campus
Please refer to this link.IGRUA is supposed to have a campus interview for its passouts.I do agree that this campus recruitment is going on on for years now.But the scene today is entirely different. With around 4000+ unemployed pilots in the market,a campus interview for IGRUA is just not justified.

My source in IGRUA states that around 50 passouts of IGRUA will be appearing for a vacancy of 30 seats! That is just not done. The simple probability will give you a figure of 0.6!Whereas in the last open ad which air india came up with,4000 pilots applied for a vacancy of 40 seats.Thats 0.01.Why is this injustice done to us?What would a person like me who's from a middle class background do?And over and above this,Air India has called off its recruitment of 738 rated F/O.

I'm not against IGRUA.But,I just want justice for unemployed pilots like us.This campus recruitment at a juncture like this will ruin everything. Why cant IGRUA pilots appear in a normal recruitment drive and be selected if they are meritorious?
Hope someone approaches who's wealthy enough takes up this case to court because it will be beneficial to thousands of us.

thats cause this is what igrua is all about...when companies go to big institutes bypassing the smaller one for campus why dont people talk about it then...because they know the quality they get there...the quality may exist in smaller institutes but even a not so smart person from a big institute manages to get a job....its all about branding and this is what the big bad world is all about...igrua is a brand in aviation and whether the canditates deserve the job or not they will get it....however let me also tell you that not everyone from igrua gets selected....for eg. if there are 30 seats and 50 candidates and air india finds only 5 worthy of selection they will take only 5.

King on a Wing 31st Jul 2010 10:15

That's pure BU$$**** speed freak....!! And even someone as dumb as you khow that for a fact. AI has NEVER been 'meritorious' about their selection, leave alone know OF the word,OR spell it for that matter..
Smell the roses bub...

casper63 31st Jul 2010 15:30

Speed Freak AI is a govt job and each and every Indian has an equal right to it. Only merit should count for unreserved vacancies. IGRUA is neither a part of AI nor is being managed by AI, however AI is being managed by ex IGRUANs that is a different story!!!!!!!

air on ice 31st Jul 2010 19:02

yawn...whats new

Campus recruitment are an advertised and well known advantage of IGRUA.Thats the reason thousands of aspirants sit of its entrance exam.Any other flying school with an actual examination plus skill test plus interview for its induction? You knew it when you went for your CPL.A newbie knows it when he starts his training today.Shouldv joined it if u wanted a part of the pie, buddy!

air on ice 31st Jul 2010 19:05

As for the "unfair" part of selection into IGRUA....seems nothing can be fair enuf for u guys...from IndiGo to Jet...Goair to Spice...go cry

Speed Freak 1st Aug 2010 08:39

dont believe you knew that air india and indian airlines pay money to igrua every year...or the govt. of india also supports igrua monetary every year...so if the govt. itself is spending so much money directly and indirectly in igrua why do they not have a right to be biased towards selecting students they actually invested money in. and if you did your research well before doing your cpl you would have realised that igrua is the only one who holds campus. why then did you not decide to go to igrua beats me.

gottofly 1st Aug 2010 11:07

do u guys know it takes 3 yrs minimum to graduate from IGRUA and double the amount for the course plus like mentioned before theres an entrance exam and interview to get admission in the first place?
I dont think its unfair....and no,I did my cpl from the U.S and not from Igrua.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERY1 LOOKIN FOR THAT JOB.
hw was the JET writtens?:ok:

It doesnt take 3 years since CAE took over.In fact, considering that DGCA exams are held in house, it doesnt take much time AT ALL! :p

1123581321 1st Aug 2010 15:17

igrua does the filtering in the entrance only.. 3000 ppl.. 30 selected (till '08).. isnt it 0.01?

air on ice 1st Aug 2010 15:56

3000 and 30....definitly dreamt up numbers...the seats have increased immensely since CAE took over (2008)...in fact, in 2008, every person who got through the written got a call eventually.(I know cuz i was called)

jimmygill 1st Aug 2010 16:25

CAE is so desperate to get the cadets they will not mind a half wit with 30 lac to spare for a CPL.

It is but logical

I am a pass out from IGRUA who is employed with AIR INDIA. The standard of IGRUA is far far better when compared to what is available from outside. Do you object when all the top MNC's pick students from IIT,IIM ? Why dont ppl file a case then in that case. It is just that the standard which keeps a brand floating. IGRUA has proved it over the years. Even if you go to court your case would just not have a stand. So keep your mouth shut and do what you can to compete in the open ad if at all it comes out

brendanelopes 4th Sep 2010 18:52

If u cant get into IGRUA, i suggest you dont start lame threads on employment. Flying isnt a joke, and only the best get into IGRUA, and btw I gave the exam this year and passed into.......

BTW......Igrua is a government academy, and Air india too......so i dont see the problem in them giving placement to their own governments academy.

AND WHY DIDNT YOU THINK ABT GETTING INTO IGRUA IN THE FIRST PLACE??

I really like the comment on abt complaining abt IIT......Why dont you try it??

vserian 4th Sep 2010 18:53

I am currently employed by Air India ( not from IGRUA) and yes many new trainee pilots that recently got employed with AI are from IGRUA. Recently some 12 IGRUA students (9 boys and 3 girls) got employed with AI and they are currently doing ground classes for the B777s and yes i feel its very unfair to others cause AI took them directly from the institution and not by doing any public selection exams. But on the other end it does look fair for the students who studied in IGRUA since they got selected on merit basis to get employed with AI. Interesting thing is that these students started their training in late 2007 on the beginning of the recession and got employed at the peak of recession, straight into the B777!

@safe in the air - i couldn't send you a PM since you blocked and which type are you in and when you got employed. if only you want to share it

exactly the reason why you feel only the best get into IGRUA. because you passed.
...while conveniently ignoring the other dim witted boobs who get into this outfit through various shady means.

u will never want to agree otherwise because it will shatter your false and fake sense of "pride" that you managed to get into "the best flying school in the world."

Go Jump somewhere, It takes four-five years to get a flying license from the World's Best University in the world - Embry-Riddle - I am from there- Oh yeah, we trained World War II pilots, trained astronauts that have flown 31 times into space and the last shuttle in September will have 2 of our alumni but that DOES Not mean that We are the best - and IGRUA is not the best -

Everybody is the best - otherwise they would not have their CPL License - It is individual MERIT and how hard you work - But Calling IGRUA the best when ERAU exist is shameless

IF you can't get into ERAU, I suggest you don't brag about getting into IGRUA. You guys don't do maneuvers that we do here in the USA. And when did someone said Flying is a JOKE here on this thread- Every body has a right to call themselves the BEST - And me being from ERAU - I WILL NEVER WORK FOR AIR INDIA - they are run by :mad: and will do so - I am not talking about Pilots - I am talking about Management

jimmygill 4th Sep 2010 22:33

because they know the quality they get there...
The quality of IGRUA can be audited,

Take the passing out flight time of all candidates.
Calculate the standard deviation.

Quality will be inversely proportional to the standard deviation.

If you find that most of them get CPL by 210 hrs then, quality can be in doubt.

IIT vs IGRUA

The entrance system to IIT is Uncompromised.

There is no filter like, you can join IIT if you have 28.5 lac to spare.

Only condition required to join IIT is that you beat lakhs of other candidates in the fairest exam that happens in India.

The faculty at IIT is world class, so is infrastructure. Can you say the same with IGRUA?

Its ok if you don't have money, government will provide Scholarship.

Any body considering these two systems comparable in terms of merit is just a dimwit..

A dimwit is someone who can enter IGRUA but will be kept miles away from IIT. I am sorry if that hurts.

IGRUA has proved it over the years.
When we talk about IIT usually it is

IITians have proved it over years and not IIT have proved it over years.

And there lies the difference.
