Rishworth blacklisting(??!!)...

Recently applied for a position with Rishworth and after filling out their preliminary application the recruiter handling the contract outright denied it saying that their Chinese airline client has given them specific guidelines to follow when recruiting expats. She said that since Beijing Olympics certain expats from around the world are denied recruitment based on their country of birth regardless of the type of passport they are holding or their country of citizenship!
I am a US citizen and wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with either Rishworth or Chinese.

fatbus 20th Apr 2010 18:28

Sorry but that goes on in alot more countries than just china. Employer can do whatever they want to.

TopTup 20th Apr 2010 20:28

Too bad EVERY airline didn't blacklist RISHWORTHless for being the despicable, lying company incapable of honoring a black and white contract that they are.

If you get blacklisted from a job through RAL, consider yourself lucky. Do your research on the reputation RAL have. If you need and a job and HAVE to go through RAL, start a new career. Yep, they are that bad. I heard they are about to be taken to court (AGAIN) for blatant breach of contract through unlawful pay cuts.

If RAL had ANY professionalism they would have informed you of this prior to wasting your time on filling out the application forms for the specific job, simply from the data you provided to them via the online application of your personal details and experience.

Professionalism & Rishworth in the same sentence? You won't find that too often unless as example for a perfect antonym!!!!!!!

This is a blessing in disguise for you. Again, due your due diligence before dealing with this scum.

Brian304 20th Apr 2010 21:04

Though I haven't used Rishworth myself, but i've heard very bad things about them, bad customer service, long delays in getting solutions, pay cuts e.t.c.

Use PARC if you can...

blues deville 20th Apr 2010 23:17

How about some first hand information?

I have a contract through Rishworth and have no complaints. I have also been to AKL to visit their headquarters. Any issues I have had in that past were dealt with in a timely manner and to my satisfaction. Bank deposits are carried out exactely as per my instructions.

Is PARC a good company? Don't know...never worked with them. They do not deal with all of the airlines currently hiring contract flight crew.

Do some research and find an agency that is right for you.

bd

TopTup 21st Apr 2010 08:00

First Hand Information

I went to RAL headquarters in AKL (Bath Street, Parnel rings a bell?) I met with the agents for a chat / informal interview at my own request. All quite professional and selling their contracts, as is their job.

I signed with them. Not long into my job the airline started "interpreting" the T & C's of my contract differently. I approached RAL to sort this out. Response?

"Just be thankful you even even have a job." QUOTE!

They will phone you up and tell you an out right lie. You'll discover what happens when incompetence meets greed and deceit. You don't think RAL know what they are doing? They have teams of lawyers working for them! They are just that despicable.

You pay over the top bank fees for YOUR salary to be deposited into your account, not so other agencies.

Minimum conditions were continually breached, what is written in black and white is ignored. Contempt and shear arrogance is met with such issues.

They rely on the facts that pilots generally do not have the spine to stick up for themselves and follow through with threats. Sadly too true when they try to act as a group.

Don't take my word for anything! Just do some minimal due diligence!!!! If you still decide to go with RAL that is your choice. The more people that DO NOT sign with RAL then its a step forward for our profession. Why support the race to the bottom?

I would love to see that scum out of aviation for what they did, still do and continue to do to pilots.

Yes, make the right choice of agency that best suits you. Don't forget though, some perverts get off on paying to be kicked in the ball$ by a hooker.

blues deville 21st Apr 2010 15:02

Well all I can say is that I have no complaints. The contract I signed with Rishworth is being honored to the letter. It sounds like you signed up with the wrong airline, not agency. What's the rest of the story?

bd

mach 84 21st Apr 2010 15:08

point was that the airline reshuffled their top management, the new vice president, former chief pilot has not reached his goals yet, most likely he is on his way to become a member of the government - transport minister.
to prove his ability to the leadership, he imposed the 4% pay cut for pilots, euro pacific which was just having a few 777 guys under contract immediately delivered the pay cut to their pilots, suddenly they are fishing for A-330 pilots in the big pond.
rishworth and parc stood firm in their positions not to cut pilots salaries. later rishworth got the message from the airline to cut the salaries and cut it for 1.75% now they are the bad guys, but still are able to supply pilots for VAC,
parc stood firm not to cut the pilots salary and seems to have problems getting slots for checking new pilots.

PROBEUSMC 21st Apr 2010 15:50

I just left a contract because of Rishworth. I was at Vietnam Airlines. Not a perfect company but I was treated very well there. I was treated like crap by Rishworth. Every single dealing with them was dishonest and deceitful. Avoid them like the plague.

If they told you they are not recruiting Americans in China, well, I am currently in China interviewing for a 320 gig. Rishworth will TELL YOU something like that because the company won't use Rishworth anymore. Instead of telling you the truth, they tell you the company won't hire you because you are from America, Russia, whatever. I have heard this story several times with people trying to get on with Rishworth. They tell you this so you stay with them and apply for a different company. I have heard EXACTLY THIS SAME STORY BEFORE.

Avoid Rishworth at all costs if possible. Parc is great and DPI I think is OK too.

mach 84 21st Apr 2010 16:19

if you leave a contract and you like the enviroment in vietnam, as you stated, just because of the contract company you are with, who gives you the guarantee that the new company will be as firm, as they seem to be yet. in the coming years?

ia1166 22nd Apr 2010 01:21

The contract at VAC prohibits changing contractor for 1 year. So if you like it here and want to change then you need to resign in the proper way, informing VAC why you are doing it, find a new job if you need to, and then come back with PARC. Other pilots have done this. I. B. for 1. He didn't even fly for a year but sat around on a beach drinking beer. It's a very reasonable thing to do, unless your new job proves to be even better!

Parc at your bedside?? blah blah??. It's exercising your options to work for a company/contractor that you want to. Sounds like someone that won't take it lying down like most pilots and is willing to do something about it!

By the way i just screened an amercan pilot who is flying in China and wants to come here. He told me there's 5 other USA guys in his airline with him. So no americans allowed to fly in China?? More RAL rubbish. Change your contractor, change your life!

By the way PARC have 320 screening slots this month. Those guys are going to be so happy they waited!

TopTup 22nd Apr 2010 03:30

Mach .84,

It's called INTEGRITY.

Sounds like you prefer to be the common sell-out that has delivered this industry to the levels it is now. So, Parc have fewer slots at VAC because they stood up for their pilots, showed some backbone? If pilots had any integrity they would boycott positions at VAC unless it was through a company like Parc and hence show solidarity by NOT accepting this treatment!!!

It won't happen because of pilots like you. (Pilot?) However you seem to be proud of it and sing like a pre-pubescent kid in a school yard.

You don't mention the back pay-cut that RAL ILLEGALLY placed on its pilots? Did you miss that one? You MUST be working for them! Same deceit and shortcomings with the truth.

The pilots that were fired.... I'd be interested to hear where you get your FACTS. Or are you still singing a school yard tale and following the gossip?

Are these FACTS you are using to slander 2 x individuals? Am I asking you to be accountable for your ignorant comments? DAMN STRAIGHT I AM. Grow up. While this is a rumor forum it is not a place to slander your fellow pilots.

Bring out the FACTS and not gossip. Looks like RAL hit the right mark if they recruited you. Birds of a feather......

NVpilot 22nd Apr 2010 04:32

Ah yes, if you don't like the message, start attacking the messenger, yawn. :ugh:

TopTup 22nd Apr 2010 08:46

How right you are.

If I don't like the lies, then I'll guarantee I won't like the liar.

You haven't the integrity to support your statements. I KNOW you created misleading and slanderous statements above, half truths and own a policy of bringing down your colleagues T & C's.

Evanelpus 22nd Apr 2010 15:06

Absolutely true, but they would be mad to fez up that they are doing it.

DesiPilot 25th Apr 2010 08:43

Back to the thread,

Flyboy,

I applied with Rishworth for a gig in China about a year ago and I was told since I am an Indian citizen I cannot get a pilot job in China. It had something to do with security regulations Chinese came out with during Beijing Olympics and of course no one bothered to change it back. I had asked them if I could get a job on the basis if my FAA license and not use my Indian license; and I was told that as long as I hold Indian passport I cannot work in China.

Of course, I ignored Rishworth's information and re-applied through WAS Inc. WAS inc didn't tell me anything about not being able to work in China, I asked/queried them and I was told no ruling like this exist. I bought my tickets, got my Chinese visa, started studying and two days before I was supposed to depart got an email from WAS inc that I cannot screen in China since I was an Indian citizen! I lost my visa fee and ticket cancellation fee and WAS Inc couldn't be bothered to refund the money.

So long story short, Rishworth did give my correct advice for once. I was told back then that if I held a US passport I could work in China, just it won’t be allowed because I hold Indian passport. I do hold US green card but that is not enough.

Good luck with your search, you can always try Vietnam, Qatar, Emirates, Bahrain Air, NAS, Watania to name a few. They are all hiring airbus drivers.

OneWorld22 26th Apr 2010 10:29

DesiPilot, sorry to hear about that. I know a few colleagues who have flown in China and they are actually very racist. They will openly say for instance that they will not accept "Blacks" Or Muslims, or people from Indonesia and other countries....And there's no hiding it or sense of embarssment when they say it.

Shocking stuff really in this day and age. A friend who flew over there said he couldn't believe the stupidity as they wouldn't look at South Africans either not believing that there were white people living there!

I cannot stand that kind of ignorance.

flyaboy69 26th Apr 2010 14:09

Rishworth...

DesiPilot,

Thanks for sharing your experience. All of a sudden flipping burgers sounds more inviting...!

Most people in Asia are extremely proud of their heritage/look down on everyone else. They all think they are the master race. We know they can't be because we Americans are!!!!! No wait, the Germans are. Wait a minute, I forgot about the Brits and that they were the best. Shoot, what about the French.

Maybe we all have more in common than we think.

You want more info on Rishworth????

I just received my last paycheck from Rishworth at Vietnam Airlines. They shorted me over 7000 USD, hoping I will not spend the time and money to come to NZ to fight them in court.

They are absolute scum of the earth. Never work for them. Ever.

Add the Republic of Nauru (current at 4 years ago, don't know about now). Seems Nauru tossed out the Chinese embassy some time ago and invited the Taiwanese embassy to return. Thus bad move for Nauraun pilots looking for work in China..

PROBEUSMC 30th Apr 2010 19:10

Brookfield Abused;
Thanks for the info. I would prefer to not have to fly to NZ. The small claims court is good up to 15K NZD. If I fly there and fight it my expenses will push it over that limit. I will probably have to go there to fight it. We have another suit against them for cutting our pay, with a bunch of pilots joining in the suit to get it way over the 15k limit.

Again, AVOID RISHWORTH. They are criminals.

PROBEUSMC,
Totally enjoyed your posting. Anyway, just to share some experience that explained the banning of some nationals working in China whilst I was in the south east asia. All those nations that recognize Taiwan as a country and not China, their nationals won't stand a chance. As for Indian, I'm not sure but it has got to do with what's being reciprocated by India to the Chinese Nationals.
Now on Indonesian, that I did hear an interesting rumour that an Indonesian chap was denied even application and that got me to probe a little further with the local FOs in my previous carrier. And I was told about the Indonesian riot that killed many local Chinese Indonesian was the reason behind the banning. Just google the key words and you'll find some articles to read on.
All said, I think Rishworth will have to get its act right since many of the contract pilots have such bad experience with them. For a start they should just pay what's due.
