B737NG Type Rating
Dear All,
I have a question regarding B737 NG Type rating in the US. Suppose I wish to get a B737NG Type rating (on my FAA licence) endorsed on my Indian CPL, what are the necessary procedures and documents/certificates that are needed to be submitted to the DGCA ? Are both Level C and D sims good for logging "zero flight time" ?? whats the main difference between the two ? Also, the other question is ... In India and in most countries like Canada, UK etc, a co pilot hired on a 737 NG fleet would have a P2 Type Rating on his CPL. Now, in the US I believe type ratings are a bit different. I have been told that the SIC (P2 equivalent) type rating is just for namesake so that FAA Pilots can fly overseas without problems. An actual TYPE RATING in the US results in a PIC Type Rating... and for inexperienced pilot .. a PIC Rating with a limitation ... So logically .. If I wish to get a P2 endorsement on my Indian CPL, do I need to get an SIC Rating on my FAA CPL and get the other DGCA docs (CA39 etc) attested by the TRI/TRE in the US ?? Can someone please clear things up for me regarding this ?? .. seems a bit confusing .. Appreciate any help regarding this .. Thanks |
hi even i have come against such doubts as shanx has

The other part of the question is beyond me, Infact I've got one of my own to add to it : Are we supposed to clear a Tech. (Specific) on the NG, in order to get the Type endorsed on our Indian License, once the Type has been done from say - the US?:confused: |
@optimus
i can answer ur this question as i have dig thru some rules well u dont need to pass dgca tech exam if u have done ur training from abroad but in that case u have to get the pass result of the same tech exam from the same contracting state also this result along with ca40a forms shud be sealed in an envelope and shud be directly sent to dgca by the training organistaion this is wat i read in the rules |
