Surviving at Tiger on a FO salary

Hi Folks,

I think everything is said in the title. The salary quoted to me sounds fairly low for a city like SIN. When I convert to US dollars I get a salary of about 4000 USD per month. Is there some sort of flight pay or alowances on top of that?

From what I understand living in the city is very expensive, so how do you guys survive on this kind of salary?

Thanks

hi, actually it depends on the way u spend ur money. $4000 USD is abt $6000 SGD, if comparison between occupations can help u grasp the relative pay sense in SG, a fresh grad earns about $2800 SGD, a cop earns abt $3000. a teacher earns abt $3000.

u r flying with a budget airline so dun expect much like the national carrier of SG , SIA. Hope this helped.:)

6 months bonus

A fresh grad may make S$2,800 to $3,200 a month but many large companies like government linked corporations and SIA pay large bonuses from 3 to 6 months so the annual package is $55k to $60k for most grads of these large companies.

Is Tiger paying huge bonuses too?

Nineinchsnail.

The basic flight pay for an FO at Tiger is SGD 64000 annually - about SGD 5333 per month. The flight pay? SGD 75.75 per hour and you can expect to fly 90 plus per month.

I think this is a bit more than your initial estimate. Not a good time if you have to send back money to the US :{

Rents in Singapore a bit of a bummer - about sgd 2000 - 3000, but tax for an FO is around 5 - 8%

IMHO - not the best, but not bad either.

You can live across the bridge, in Malaysia, much cheaper if you are on a tight budget. Commute on a motorcycle if you can't afford to buy a second hand car.

can anyone give realistic time of upgrade to left seat in tiger? will they accept 330 type and provide ccq?

by my calculation package including flying pay is about 12,000sgd before tax based on 90hours about 8400us which i think is reasonable especially if you can get the quick command

thanks

Don't need wheels!

Don't buy a car, you don't need one, and it will save you a fortune.

Public transport is great and the taxis are readily available and affordable even on an FO's salary.
