I am a qualified non Asian pilot with a 737 Typer rating. What is my chance of getting on with Air Asia. And yes I have the jet time but not on the 737. But Have the type rating for all 737 as pr the FAA.

Have you checked the AirAsia website?

http://www.airasia.com/site/au/en/pa...ence=jobspilot

Here are the requirements for captains, although I'm not sure what they mean by MPJ and MPA. Can anyone elaborate?

Requirements

With Command Experience
- Total 4000 hours of which 1500 hours (P1) on MPJ equipped with EFIS/FMS or 2500 hours (P1) on MPJ/MPA.

Without Command Experience
- Total 5000 hours of which 2000 hours on MPJ equipped with EFIS/FMS and 1000 hours on type A320 Family/A330/A340 or Total of 5000 hours of which 2500 hours on wide body aircraft equipped with EFIS/FMS.

FO

Thanks for the reply, I am looking for an FO position there.......

supercooltemperature 6th May 2008 14:09

Capt only

AAsia is taking expat Capt but for FO they prefer Malaysian (maybe due to regulations). Try Vietnam, India or Middle East. Good luck.

kwaiyai 7th May 2008 16:55

Affirm supercool DCAM have restricted Foreigners to apply for FO Position.
Regards,

747 suggest you apply to Jetstar/Pacific in Vietnam.

Jetstar/Pacific

Looked at the website and all they offer is a cadet program...I am not a cadet and already am B737 fully typed. Are they hiring experienced FO's ?

CAT IIIB 11th May 2008 14:42

Left Wing 11th May 2008 14:48

Air Asia

Heard thru the grapevine that an AA plane had a near miss with a helicopter in Labuan a couple of days ago. Apparently he was on wrong frequency and talking to the wrong controller, Brunei radio. Can any one confirm this?

GlueBall 17th May 2008 04:47

Billboard ads say that Air Asia [Malaysia] is all A320 fleet, . . . no more 73s! :ooh:

Fair.Pilot 17th May 2008 09:11

yes it is true, some moron captain flew his 320 at flt level 400,the f/o must be a moron 2 for not doing anything..:=. stay away from aa..bunch of idiots running the airline..from flt ops to the fat bangla.

near miss...wow they must be trying for a new record after having so many hard landings in over 7 months.:D.the clock is counting down to something big if they don't start improving.

lesenterbang 18th May 2008 07:24

I'm not a 320 pilot, but isn't the service ceiling of the A320 FL390?

cochise 18th May 2008 08:25

you are correct, that's the point! But the 330 is 41,100. Hence the dual type rating crack:eek:

QAR 18th May 2008 11:11
