Can someone tell me what I have to do to convert my licenses from FAA to Indian licenses? I am an Indian citizen working in the states but I want to move back to India and fly. All information would help. Links, procedures, as much as possible. Thanks so much guys... |
You will find the details on the DGCA website.

well, to convert an FAA license to an Indian license ... you need the following:
a) Clear two DGCA papers... Composite Nav and Air Regulations. b) Class I indian medical c) an Indian RT license d) an FAA CPL e) 120 NM (night) 250 NM (day) and day, night and IR skill test in an a/c registered in india. if you desire a multi engine rating, then the above checks plus 10 hours or more total time in the a/c registered in india .... thats about it! good luck! |

Hey BAD ATTITUDE
Hi Bad attitude,
Do you know how I can study for these exams. I have no clue on what to study. Any links out there or books? Please let me know. THanks.. |
well, there's no fixed place to study for these exams ... but a good place to start is the 'Ground Studies for Pilots" series ...
which look something like this ... http://www.amazon.com/Ground-Studies.../dp/0632059397 Get the GSP's for Meterorology, Navigation, Radio Aids, Flight Instruments and Flight Planning. are you in india? you can get these books and more from the English Book Store ... 17 L,Outer Circle,Minto Bridge Traffic Crossing Connaught Place, New Delhi, 110001 +91 11 23415031 +91 11 23417126 +91 11 23417936 Get hold of notes from either Seth, Buti, Surinder, Duggal. And questions banks as well. one question bank is more than enough as all of them pretty much have the same questions. as for Regulations, you need to get this book by Win Cdr Bali and another book called the Aircraft Act 1934 ... these two books will be enough to make your head spin around a couple of times ... when do you plan to give these exams? what kind of a license do you have? hours? ratings? |
I have my ATP. I am flying for Jetblue Airways on the 190. About 3000 hours. By the way, are you in India? Have you taken these exams? I live in the US.
|
whoa!!! thats cool! Paramount flies the 190 ... hey why dont you go here ...
http://www.paramountairways.com/careers.html and get in touch with them. who knows, maybe they can take you in directly ... there is this whole deal going on with FATA, but the exact implications it will have on Indian flying on FATA are still unclear. It's worth a shot! good luck! they just might take you in as a DEC. yes, i did give the papers this Jan and cleared them. and i am in india. |
How long did it take you to do the conversion from start to finish?
|
well i'm still waiting on a couple of things ... so not even close ... but if you have everything ready ... and give it to the DGCA, it takes about a week. they're pretty quick in that regard.
and how long you take to get your stuff ready. is totally up to you. which could range from a couple of months, to years ... |
