Air Macao: Captain arrested on board!

A Brasilian Captain was arrested on board of an Air Macau aircraft when he was set to departure on a Flight to Taiwan.
While still on the bridge during the crew change he violently attacked a Chinese First Officer from the incoming Flight. The agression took several minutes and the local FO had to receive medical treatment at the hospital due to severe laceration on his face.
The boarding was suspended and when the police was called the wild Brazilian Captain locked himself inside the cockpit for several minutes resisting to police orders. After that he was arrested and taken to the police station.
All this is the result of the indiscipline accumulated for several months that have been ignored by the unexperienced Director of Flight Operations and a third choice Chief Pilot. The image and the safety of the Company are now severely affected by this abnormal incident and they are the responsibles.
This is the right time for the Chairman of a Company that belongs to Air China and the Civil Aviation Authority of Macau to investigate these unconcious ahead of the flight division. Shame on you!

It's the same old story which involve a female cabin crew according to the latest information.
Today Air Macau will make an announcement to the press to explain the events caused by this savage Brazilian Captain and we are looking forward to see what excuse they will find. Let`s see also what the Company will do with those incompetents ahead of the flight Operations.

We should not beat up on a fallen tree. Imagine the guilt trip all involved have. Remember regardless what happened, its still fellow aviators in a bad moment. Lets not make it worse for them here in this forum. This forum is to help aviators, not make it worse.

Total Lack of "esprit de corps"...

At least one real :D"colleague" :D, on the strict sense of the word. Totally agree with you, it is the hell of a bad moment within that group, and - unfortunately - the accident is right around the corner. Tension has been rising beyond limit for quite some time and nothing was done to create a minimum number of "relief valves"...let's just hope it is not too late:confused:.

Nice flights to all of you...:ok:

Dear Bustrash, the fellow aviator on a bad moment that you are talking about should think twice before commit this atrocity that is causing the discredit of the pilots on this Company and we still have some good aviators here. He don`t deserve any help or mercy, only a ticket back to the Amazon Forest with all respect to the animals.
What we should talk about is the discredit on the flight operations management and that the lack of pilots don`t justify everything. That`s why this barbaric incident happened. Start from the top.
It`s clear the DFO and the CP can`t deal with indiscipline among other things in order to be popular. There are no meetings, no communication, no information about the Company, no new SOP, dezorganisation on the flight training, lack of punctuality and indiscipline. So drink and talk.

BUSTRASH 18th Feb 2008 09:16

Come on. A fellow aviator in a bad moment, or a moment of temp insanity. Instead of turning on him, we should at least find out the truth and get are collegues help like in other professions.

Seems there's a story out there.......

The following article appeared in the Macau Daily Times today:

http://www.macaudailytimesnews.com/i...6936&Itemid=28

A Brazilian Air Macau captain allegedly attacked a fellow company worker and local co-pilot at around 8:15pm on Saturday night, leaving him in hospital with several injuries.
While changing crew at the Macau International Airport, after the company's flight NX001 from Beijing landed in Macau, and which was scheduled to depart to as flight NX 660 to Kaohsiung in Taiwan, the Brazilian captain, named Arthur “violently hit” local co-pilot named Zane, after the latter disembarked from the plane.
The incident which took place at the airport's boarding area near gate 3, was witnessed by both flight crew, ground crews and passers-by.
Police were called to the scene immediately, and once at the airport proceeded to arrest the Brazilian captain, while the local co-pilot was then taken to Macau's public hospital, Conde Sao Januario, for medical treatment.
The co-pilot suffered “several traumas,” but it is still unknown whether or not he has been discharged.
Once a new captain was found to replace and fly the plane outbound to Taiwan, the plane took off after a 50 minute delay.
The company's pilots and crew were unreachable for comment yesterday, however, most local media received text messages on mobile phones informing them of the incident.
It is still unknown what triggered the Brazilian captain to such action against his fellow worker and co-pilot. But it is believed this is the first incident reported.
However, it is expected that Air Macau will take action in order to avoid such incidents in the future.

I told you so!!!!

Gentleman, Gentleman! Take it easy. Wait for the facts. It’s too early to take conclusions. Lets start with real facts. If you remember, a couple of months ago, I wrote about an crazy F/O who attacked several Captains. That was just the beginning. We all new that something like this would happen in Air Macau. It was just a question of time. There is no rule or law in Air Macau. CP should have done something to stop this violence escalade. An example should have been done at that time with that mad F/O. Now it is too late. This was already discussed here, and everywhere were Air Macau people gather. Now today, was the final result of a lack of leadership, inexperienced Management, and “Godfathers”. Lot worse was the event of the F/O who attacked several Captains (verbally and physically), but nothing was done. Why? Because of his Godfathers, because of the actual CP, and because none of the attacked pilots were Chinese. And now? What kind of “sentence” will be applied in this case? Same facts, same problems, but different people! Where is this going? F/Os lost their respect towards Captains, and no punishment? I am sure that this Brazilian Captain has to buy a car from the VPFO, or an expensive watch from one of the Instructors in order NOT TO HAVE A PUNISHMENT!!!!! Other people did it in this Airline. For an upgrade, or for not to be fired after reporting sick from a party (where he got drunk and had a fight), or to be nominated as Instructors. For any reason there was a gift or a party, or a dinner. Shame on you all!!! VPFO, you just love to hide behind your desk. Chief pilot you should be ashamed of yourself from doing nothing. You should have resigned when you didn’t take any action towards that crazy F/O. Safety Officer? Somebody??? Nobody! Zero!! Nothing was done. You are all there just for the Status, CV and money/power!!! Shame on you all!!! Capt. A., I hope you all the best. You shouldn’t have done that. Now you have consequences. You are a nice guy, I like you. Wish you good luck, and you are not alone.

Dear DCTPAPA,you need to enforce your command in another place because here your radio silence is not working. But I recognize that you are a smart man that make good observations.
So I will try to help you with your radio. So try to pull some CB`s and revise the loss of communications procedure. then impose the radio silence 3. Regards

Arremeteu you are back!!!

Arremeteu you are back!!!

How much we have missed you and your funny perspective of the life of all pilots in Air Macau!!!!

So let me get this straight that you said, F/O argues with Captain, not OK, F/O should be fired.

Captain punches F/O, and you feel sorry for him? Poor guy...

Did I get that right?

Absolutely no comments then....

Arremeteu 19th Feb 2008 00:48

No way!

No, you got it wrong. What I am saying is, that if CP didn’t had the guts to do something couple of months ago regarding the Portuguese F/O, then he shouldn’t do anything at all to this Capt. Both of them are wrong, and both of them should be punished. They should have to pay for their actions, or CP should apply the same “sentence” and nothing would happen. Management, they keep hiding behind closed doors and they love it. Or perhaps pilots, who do mistakes, should give some gifts to management in order not to be punished. Like your friends did. Like your friends who most of them are not here anymore because they had to leave, liked to receive. Otherwise they would go after them as Instructors or friends of Instructors, until they were kicked out of here. Like the Mafia! It is shameful that because of this management nowadays, everybody can do whatever they want and not get punished. But at least they don’t get any bribes. I hope that if they start to punish pilots for their actions now that they also apply to that mad Portuguese F/O and some crazy Portuguese Capts, as well as to some Brazilians. I don’t care about Nationalities, I just hope that respect for Pilots would come back, and that discipline would be reinforced. By the way, yes, I like this Capt. and I wish him good luck and all the best! Which doesn’t mean that I approve what he did. Got it???!!!!

Response To F/o Arremeteu

Hey Man Come On! How Do You Expect To Become A Captain With This Attitudes. Lets Solve Our Problems Inside The Company Ok? This Forum Is To Help Each Other, Not To Gossip About What Happens Inside The Company. If You Are Not Happy With The Vpfo, Chief Pilot Or Any Of Your Colleague, Be A Man And Tell Him In Person. Think About It Ok! No Offenses, But To Be A Real Captain You Gotta Have Attitude, Inside And Specially Outside The Cockpit. Regards.

BUSTRASH 19th Feb 2008 06:35

Everybody should go purchase the Macau Daily News. This alteration over a women has been spun by the local wannabe media and its nobody reporters into something racial. There asking for his head and we should not give them the satisfaction. Suspension with pay and therapy should be the solution for all 3 involved.

They are poor in decision making at management level and they must leave in order to restore the safety and the credibility of the Company.
