Thanks for posting that article, TMF. An interesting item of information there is the number of PAX on the afflicted aircraft -- 446. Some reports listed 455 PAX on the A380's maiden flight. Neither is far short of the 470, or so, seats/suites on board.

We'll need now to conduct a thorough investigation on the aircraft to make sure all the aircraft components at the landing gear level that have come into contact with the grass are okay.
Bluddy tough grass up there in Singapore! :8

ab33t 10th Jan 2008 20:22

Not designed for grass strips?

RedTBar 10th Jan 2008 20:29

There is probably a new taxi driver looking for a fare in orchard Rd now

Buster Hyman 10th Jan 2008 20:51

Were wheel brakes part of Airbus' weight savings?

Capt Fathom 10th Jan 2008 21:30

Not designed for grass strips?

A380 Grass Strip Option

First To Fly, First To F@#k Up ! ! !

They got the Dugong back on the hard stuff at 7am S'pore time. Lots of inspections to do and possible bogie change ! Oops . . . . .

QF22 10th Jan 2008 23:42

Stuck in the mud !

It was a minor incident compared to QF in BKK.
SIA are gettin good at it 2nd time in as many months, lastime it was a 777, but this time it was the new BIG toy ! Ouch !
FIRST TO FLY,FIRST TO MAINTAIN, FIRST TO F@#K UP ! ! !

regitaekilthgiwt 11th Jan 2008 00:12

It was a minor incident compared to QF in BKK.
Are u serious?

Yes lets pick that one. I would say the incident in BKK was minor compared to the SIA accident in Taiwan when they took off on the wrong runway.

Oh yeah, then there was the SIA tail scrape in New Zealand.

Grow up

QF22 11th Jan 2008 00:18

Get Lost

A couple of wheels on the grass at T3 IS minor compared to BKK and I DIDN'T even mention TPE or AKL incidents, YOU DID ! Who is the idiot?
Me thinks you !

fourgolds 11th Jan 2008 07:03

I am always amazed how quick we are to point fingers at everyone else the minute something goes wrong. Ok so lets talk about going off the grass , tail scrapes , bla bla bla.

Gentleman " there by the grace of God go you "

Just wait until something untoward were to happen to you and all the arm chair warriors offer their "expert opinions" kinda like CNN reporters saying how a " four seater piper cub crashed into school today"

Hunter58 11th Jan 2008 08:22

I am always amazed about how many people cannot make the difference between active and passive...

Oh my... oh my...

powerstall 11th Jan 2008 09:07

good thing it happened while the A380 was being towed, it would be a different and bigger item if it was taxiing or it was under it's own power.. :ugh:

NotHere 11th Jan 2008 11:03

Fully agree with 'fourgolds', can happen to anyone being an aviator - BUT its the arogance of SQ !!! :O
