Saigon info, anybody

Okay you guys, surely someones must know something about Saigon.....I am in desperate need of info in areas like accommodation, expat hangouts, cost of living, best places near the airport to live, restaurants, anything......

Saigon is a wonderful place. Nice Asian food with french influence, thousands of beautiful girls riding motorbikes, Airport at few minutes from downtown... cost of living... South East asian (Very low) if you live the same way than Vietnameses. Do not forget the average salary is very low few hundreds dollars. A lot of handicraft, a nice cultural experience if you open your mind and your heart. My two favourite places: Vietnam and Thailand.

Okay.....so anyone else know anything about Pacific Airlines?

Search the forum for previous posts. 2-B737's and an A320. I believe Danang and Hanoi out of HCM. Taiwan and Japan internationally. Haven't been there in a year and a half. Enjoyed my time with them when there.

Are you trying to get hired at Pacific Airlines?

If you already have a job and just want info on HCMC, just stay in a hotel for a little while until you figure out what kind of lifestyle you want. Your co-workers will be able to give you lots of advice. "Mini hotels" are $10 per night and are quite comfortable. If you want a more lxurious, full service hotel, there is the Omni Hotel, or Novotel Garden Plaza near the airport. Both are about $60-$90 per night.

You probably won't get much response here because most pilots working in Vietnam are too busy enjoying the good life.

Pacific Airlines went through a major restructuring last year and much of the flying is now contracted out.

There's also the fact that Pacific is partly owned by Singapore Airlines or Temasek respectively, which might influence further restructuring in the future...

hmmmm....i thought i was the only one applying for this job through parc...so they said....they needed an immediate f/o starter....suddenly they didn't...is that normal when dealing with pacific airlines? or was that a parc thing?

Pacific is a small Cie and they may change their mind quite fast. Parc is doing only what they are told to do
As far Singapore is involve in Pacific this is false. They were supposed to invest 50 millions but they change their minds about 4 months ago
So d ont expect too much from Pacific
