Singapore Residency

Does anyone know whether a 56 year old British pilot working for a Singaporean carrier is likely to be successful if he applies for permanent residency? The Govt. website states that everyone over the age of 50 will have their application considered individually and I wonder if anyone has been down this road or knows of someone who has.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't be a problem, but why would you want to do that. Assuming you're on an expat contract, as soon as you become a PR you go to local terms....

Phil,

Thanks for the reply. I am led to believe that expats are employed only on local terms anyway so being granted PR should not have any effect. If, however, expats are employed on expat T&Cs at Silkair then I would have to think twice.

You (obviously) haven't done your homework, have you Shaman.
"expats are employed only on local terms"???
Try your luck, as an expat, at renting an HDB for $600 per month! :ouch:

See how successful you are at obtaining a loan from DBS on local terms. :ouch:

Try applying for government assisted health care, as a PR. :ouch:
