SIA Admin

Has anyone completed the entire SIA DEC interview process(interview, sim ride, and successful medical the next day) and not ever been notified of either success or rejection, ie. dies on the vine so to speak? 6 weeks and nary a word. What gives?

thanks everyone for the pm's too. They are very informative

6 weeks?

You mean 6 months.

777 dec - I'm pretty sure the medical was ok since I renewed my class 1 with it while I was there with a FAA certified doc (a few more pokes and probes) and I''m in good health overall. I've heard the 777 notification doesn't work like the cargo side but this is a bit interesting.

KK this is not unusual at all! After the medical they will apply for your work permit, that takes at least three weeks, they will write to your current employer to verify your hours, captain status and ask about any accidents, then they will decide when they want to employ you and send you an offer, from medical to offer for me took almost four months!

Thanks BE - I guess I'll just cool my jets for now. How long does one usually have between the official offer and "report for duty"?
It would be nice to have some time to get the ducks lined up.

BlueEagle,
the 4 month's after medical is only to wait for offer letter, and how long you have to wait until you will be in the cockpit again, after ground course and simulator

Interview September, job offer December, Course date end of May. first revenue flight September, but that was fifteen years ago, things may have changed.
