Other Than SIA Cadet Pilot Sponsorship
Hi all,
Other than SIA taking Cadet Pilot and train them... Is there any other Airlines doing so, eg. Valuair? Because apparently, in Singapore, if you dont get in SIA as cadet, there is no other place where could be trained as a pilot (of cos exclude RSAF). Thanks for any information..... |
Hi
Hi HanDs,
I dont think other airlines such as valuair or tiger airways have their own cadet pilot programme.just check out their website then you'll know.As far as i know, normally a new airline will not take in cadets due to many reasons. It might be because they still dont have the technical ability to train their own pilots. What they can think of now is getting pilots with experience. :ok: |
thanks outlaw....
hai~~~~ that means if u r in spore, other than SIA, there is no place to be trained as pilot already...... |
Hi HanDs,
Yes i think that could possibly be the only way......through SIA and of course there's the RSAF.If ur trying to get in by going through a flying school, that's ok but I don't think there is a guaranteed job later.Well normally everywhere you see is a vacancy for pilots with a jet rating and few jet flying hours.I think the only airline i know of taking someone with a frozen ATPL is Air Asia. But then it even took Air Asia 3 years to start their own cadet pilot programme. So just give Valuair and Tiger Airways some time, maybe in few years to come they might be training their own pilots.......;) |
Thanks Outlaw.... but disappointing though bcos there is no other means other than SIA... Monopoly :P
|
sia is a super brand! like coca-cola, gillette and marlboro!
|
Ok, I need someone to repeat the following phrase for me and mean every word s/he says:
"SIA hires foreigners for their cadet pilot program" :O ;) :p :{ threepwood |
threep...yes SIA does hire non-Singaporeans as cadets.
|
Ev-wings,
So are there any differences in terms & conditions for a non-S'porian cadet, as compared to a S'porian? |
Yes, there are differences. Although, for the most part, non-Singaporeans are hired on local (Singaporean) terms. I do believe that as a non-Singaporean cadet, you will be required to pay back a fraction more than what Singaporeans pay. But the fact remains that SIA does spend more on non-Singaporeans in that they have to fly you to Singapore, reimburse you for all your employment pass fees, etc. Still an excellent deal. You'll still eventually fly a 777 or 744.
|
hi... can you please tell me if there are bonds for non singaporean cadets?
thanks. |
i can't divulge the exact details. but they are almost all the same as it would be for a local. one major difference is you pay back more than what a local would pay and... you do not contribute to CPF since you are on an employment pass.
by the way, there are many other ways to get flying training. a friend of mine obtained his limited PPL from Seletar Flying School, limited because navigation flights can't be done in Singapore. another way would be to hop over to the Johor Flying School and get your PPL. of cos, everything will be paid on your own. for the full CPL-IR with ATPL, you can consider MFA... |
well... so that means a self sponsor scheme but will be recruit by SQ?
i hold a JAA-PPL. looking to pursue further. i am a HK citizen. applied CX. but no luck. KA doesn't open for apps 24/7. so looking at alternatives to go pro with cadetship. any info regarding SQ's cadet would be appreciated thanks |
yeah, that will be self-sponsored. that is what most people around the world do too. but then, that statement about "will be a recruit of SQ" isn't really true. i know of two guys who got in with PPLs, but still got terminated due to their ATPL exams.
also, i guess whether you get in depends on the demands of the company, and the economic climate at that time. but of course, if you do have your own licence, you will stand a better chance than another candidate with zero experience. and regarding SIA Cadet scheme, SIA only accepts sporean citizens, sporean PRs and malaysians. so, it may be a bit difficult for your case. but then again, no harm trying dude! |
thanks overmars. just to clarify
SQ's cadetship is not the same as CX's or KA's cadetship where fee is waived. correct? thanks |
well, it is still a sponsorship. but we have to repay a certain amount after we get online. the amount is quite substantial, but definitely much less than the amount that is required if we pay for our own licence. nothing is free in this world....
CX and KA cadetship is free? that's nice... |
i won't say free. but cadets do not need to pay a penny. binding contract after graduation 6 years.
any idea how much is required to be put up for SQ? |
For SQ
Sing $18000 for locals Sing $36000 for expats cheers, FT |
hi
i think i better not say the exact details of the contract, but for SQ, it is just a little bit more than 6 years. |
guys,
i dont work for SQ or any of its sister airlines. the kind of information hiding attitude ppl from this airline/region have is the least to say, dissapointing. look at any other threads abt SIA DEC or Cargo stuff, not very helpful with salaries and cost of living, except once i think. keep it up guys, i thought forums were for sharing information. and yeah, the SQ bond is for 7 Yrs once u become an FO. thx to a close friend of mine, who has helped me with all this info. cheers, FT |
