Grab a beverage of choice then go through the AirJapan thread for a few hours.
Have a break then have a look at other threads - Jetstar Japan, Skymark, Spring Japan, IBEX et al.
If you're serious these threads - in particular AirJapan - will answer 99% of any questions you may have.
Can also make for entertaining sidelines/comments at times!
Cheers

Two questions.
1. When do the 321LR's arrive?
2. Before Covid, how many hours would one do as a Line Captain (Not an Instructor) in a year on the commuting contract? I have heard anything from 800 to 450 quite a variation.
Thanks

I just received this from one of the recruiters for Peach and
frankly not surprised either. I have not pasted the whole email just the relevant.
regard's,
We hope that you are keeping well. We would like to inform you that the position with Peach Aviation is currently on hold. We shall be in contact once recruitment opens and provide you with further details.

All contracts have been cancelled at Air Japan for the remainder of 2020 and possibly 2021. I wouldn't expect a job at any of the ANA subsidiaries for the foreseeable future.

Also my guess would be regarding various operators in Japan is that they will be looking at JCAB licensed pilots first in the future even if non-type rated, before looking at anyone else.

There is another aspect to all of this, how fast or slow the recovery will be, that nobody knows for sure and both ANA and JAL are bleeding cash rapidly. Thus far the mainline pilots haven't lost their jobs but if it comes to that, their JCAB license is heavier than yours or mine

Yes still a number of expats on property with a class under way now... Another class was planned for March last time I spoke to a Mate who is in class now... Another mate is waiting for his COE certificate of employment for his work visa... He interviewed this past summer and his contract has him slotted for a 2021 class... J-land runs biz year starting Apr... From what has been said the Ministry of Justice has been reluctant to issue COE's with the covid thing, so those who were "in country" are the folks who were slotted for class... Peach is operating a greatly reduced schedule due to the current "state of emergency" however they should resume a more robust schedule 8 March... Prior to the state of emergency they were operating a fair domestic schedule much more so than JetStar Japan... If things finally break they will be in position staffing and aircraft to capture market, however they are burning thru cash as everybody is... Time will tell... From what a Japanese freind said they had stopped accepting applications due to Japanese Labor Law requiring them to retain said files for 5 years... Not sure if that is true but what was said... Best of luck... Cheers...

Wondering about their latest ad on recruiting captains with at least 500hrs PIC experience in Japan. My guess would be that it's a rather good opportunity for the ex-AJX crew laid off recently.
