Taxes and social security in J-land are a bit complicated: budget on 25% for the first year and for about 33% for the following years (residence tax and some other payments kick in 2nd year). Salaries are pretty much unchanged since pre-covid, but it's around 135 yen for a dollar at the moment as opposed to 105 yen back in 2019. VAT has increased too, inflation is knocking on the door. Not competitive anymore.

Reading around has told me that you should expect a minimum of 6 months in training before your ICAO is a valid JCAB. Unlikely that's changed, especially with less flying being done in the wake of COVID.

Current conditions
Would anyone thats working in Peach be able to share how much a line captain would be able to take home, realistically, after tax ?
The figures available online or through various agencies seem to be very misleading.
Any inputs would be appreciated.

Hi,
If you calculate on an average of 1m yen pm for a sched of 75hrs flown you won't go wrong. In other words 12m yen per year for 900hrs. All after income, local and welfare deductions.
Cheers

According to my calculations 16k usd pm is gross pay for a 90+hr sched... no way to have that with 7-10 consecutive off each month. Up to 70-75hrs max is likely if one wants to commute.

I guess it's possible with a mix of annual vacation and off days, but nothing contractual. Subject to availability and depending on scheduling department.
Edit: it's 141 yen for a dollar now... package is pretty much unchanged since it was 100-105 yen to a dollar...
