SQ T&Cs
Hi all, please forgive the rooky questions but I've been on the bench for a few years and a bit out of the loop.
Can anyone advise the remuneration package for an Direct Entry SO with SIA?
How long to upgrade?
Is it feasible to raise a young family there or better to commute from Aus?
Cheers

I am largely out of date regarding Ts & Cs at SQ but a couple of points, you won't get a roster compatible with commuting from Australia, you will find it quite expensive on tickets if you do try to commute. SQ experimented with basing in the UK, Australia and theUSA about twenty years ago and gave them up as soon as they could.

Upgrade time from SO to FO is around 10-12 months.
FO to CA is a long wait, I believe. No idea about the salary though, apart from the fact that upon being promoted to FO, they will deduct certain amount from your salary for x number of years which is mentioned in the last question of the application.
Btw, have you been invited for an assessment?

No I haven't even got an application in as yet. I'm just looking at long haul options from or near Aus. Have a young kids so need to weigh up the work life balance stuff.

Ironically a long haul SO with Virgin Auz would spend far more time at home than a domestic NG driver hence why I was wondering about other operators in our region.

AZ.... For info ...A SO in SQ is not an operating position. This is a training rank to be FO. Training period for SO for all fleets range from 6-9months.. then you become an operational FO.
While flying as (training) as SO you will not get any productivity allowance as there will also be a safety pilot until you are cleared to FO position. So look at your hours as you might qualify for the direct entry FO program iso the SO position. If you join as a direct FO, earliest time to command assessment is 5 years(iregardless of nationality).

what I was trying to say was nationality doesn't matter for a DEFO(direct entry FO).
