Command upgrade in Thailand for expats
Hi everybody.
Please, would you mind to tell me if anybody knows about some non-thai pilot how had upgraded to command in Thailand.
Hence I've known, the CAAT is very restrictive with the upgrades to command for expats pilots.
Thanks a lot for your help.

upgrade for Farang
VERY, VERY rarely has this happened. Usually it is some kind of "under the table deal", where there is a payoff.
New CAAT discourages it and will attempt to block it.
Years past, you just left Thailand for six months and came back as PIC.
But most of all is CAAT rule #1......you are low life, scum sucking, farang expat.
And even more important, ELVIS doesn't like it.

OK - enough!!
Would someone PLEASE explain the magic/mystery of the Thai ELVIS.
I can understand individuals having supreme powers within an airline - however ELVIS appears to have supreme powers over a whole REGION.
WTF!!!
And that power - used for good or evil??
Just asking, thanks.
Cheers

Elvis
This is a personal satirical between a few of us that have worked in Thailand and the surrounding area for some time.
Elvis, aka "Tony the Tiger", "Tony RayBan", "Capt Rayban" are all the same person....though some of us doubt he is human. One thing we do agree on, is that if he is human, then it is a mythical sub-human form.
Last I heard he is at 9* in attempt save grace after being fired from Thai Lion and then blown away by his brethren at the new CAAT.
Once a farang, always a farang
Or more simply put, he does not want you soiling the sky's of Thailand.
say it aint so Joe

Upgrade to PIC status is/has been a very common thing in Thailand since years ago for countless expats.I have conducted many of them and dont remember any "bribes' being paid, unless a few beers at the final hurdle can be considered thus.Never had any DCA issues trying to block this as long as all the boxes are ticked, OM-D is followed to the letter. However the individual may be required to pay towards his airlines costs of training and fair enough too.Pete.
