LIOn air looking for Captain

I see loin air.. are looking for Capts. there are a huge lose of captains over the last few months in this company.. some have gone to A330 and most have resign and gone to Garuda or Sriwijaya Air for better and conditions.

So if you fancy a challenge of working 4/5/6days with 1 day off for 10 weeks on and 2 wks off for the next 3years.. LION air looking for you..

3 year contract
Jakarta, Indonesia base
NEW monthly fee of USD10,000!
NEW USD10,000 End of Contract Bonus!
Roster pattern of 10 weeks on and 2 weeks off

Btw this should P**soff the locals..hahaha local earn half .

But contractors/expats have always earned more than locals. 10 weeks on 2 weeks off is shocking. The fatigue of the crew is unreal, and I'm very surprised there hasn't been more accidents.

Ever wonder why this bottom feeder carrier is banned from the rest of the world?

BTW... since when is the $10,000 monthly fee new? That's been the salary for years.

Define rest of the world because I see them regularly outside of Indonesia.

Lion Air is primarily a domestic LCC so they're not going to fly routes to Europe or even Japan.

However they do fly to India daily, and soon Australia, via subsidiary Malindo Air (aka Malaysia Lion).

Peekay don`t confuse the two, Malindo under Malaysian AOC with Malaysian pilots - its a joint venture with lion air - they train at the simulator in Jakarta - but that's about the extend of it - otherwise under the purview of DCA which I trust a whole lot more than the Indonesian mob - IMHO - malindo giving Tony a run for his money and a few headaches to boot

Nah... Malindo is not really different from, say, Thai Lion Air (under Thai AOC) -- they're all part of the Lion group -- just like Tony's various AirAsia subsidiaries fly under different AOCs but are all part of the AirAsia group and all report to Tony.

In fact, Malindo was Lion's expansion into Malaysia to counter AirAsia's expansion into Indonesia. Tit-for-tat between the two groups.

Under the term's of Malindo's joint venture, Lion Air provides all aircraft and crew, while the Malaysian mostly-silent partner Nadi provide MRO services.

Malindo's CEO Chandran Ramamurthy was appointed by Lion Air's chairman Rusdi Kirana. He was Kirana's right-hand man in Jakarta.

so maybe breaking it down to simplicity:

- will Malindo strive for (and achieve?) the same level of incidents and accidents that appears SOP within the Lion Air parent (indonesia)??

Would failing to achieve be a good or bad thing??

Why??

Cheers all.

Malindo's ambition is to have "100 aircraft in 10 years" (all provided through Lion Air). They have like 15 jets today plus some ATR72s.

Such expansion is going to create a lot of stressors. 100 aircraft is about the size of Lion Air today.

I didn't read the advert. Are they looking for experienced captains? Or is this a captain upgrade program? And what are the requirements?

Clearedtocrush.. for experienced Captains, but Lion Thai offers more and bit better working conditions.

There is a upgrade program for senior FO.. 5 YEAR CONTRACT.. only need 3000TT and 1000jet. there are 2 agents. one agent ask you to deposit 18K usd into there account just in case you cant handle the bad rostering and working 4-6 days and 1 day off, until end of contract (Lion pilots only need 1 day to recover at home.haha) decide to run away.

Thanks for ur reply jetjockey. Is it really so hard rostering as I have heard before (4-6 days flying a week)? Perhaps it has improved a bit lately due to lack of crews? Do you have any current inside information from crews who are now there ? I find it hard to believe that people who work under these conditions can last for 5 years! What about this 5 year contract ? You could share or pm me some more info? Who are the agents?

Rostering..still the same, not much has changed since Lion started operations. only from 6days straight flying to 4 days away maybe increase to 5 or 6 days in peak season with 1 day off. you could land at late late night 11pm, home by 12:30am next day on day off. day after you could start flying at 5am, reporting to office is 1hr30mins before.

The thing is Commercial department control everything..not scheduling.. if a route lacks the required amount of pax it is cancelled vice versa. so last minute changes. most changes can change in the early hours of the morning when you are sleep. so your early morning flt can be cancelled, reschedule to late in the day or move to early times. my friends had scheduling call him at 1-2am about the changes or you outbase flying sudden you get a new revise by sms, telling you that you are reroute to another destination...it feels that you are corporate pilot not a airline pilot. with less pay..
All this problems not even Chief pilots can help. they dont have not much control over scheduling.. they just monitor the pilots and minor trouble shoot scheduling. they just smile.. and reply "you know..its lion"

Well not many expat FO left. only a handful.. most are waiting for upgrade. its a waiting game. Local can only accept it, because local FO are tired to 20yr contract, if they leave..they need to pay over 100K USD. But the capt are leaving, the faithful ones move to the A330 (3xA330 this year will arrive)
unfaithful and angry ones leave to other companies.

The new local captains are from Garuda long serving jet FOs, the turboprop captains from other companies etc.

LIon is a company for single young guys.. easy to exploit (like a sex slave).. the age recruitment for groundstaff and cabincrew is 18-25yrs. beyond that you are too expensive (meaning you are want more money) and OLD..

the Good captains in this company, hard working and not crazy. have had have heart bypass, few heart attack and sadly few have died.

Thanks for the valuable info. Well 4-6 days flying a week sounds very hard. 4 days is my limit actually, i dont think I could last long if i was flying 6 days. I might give it a chance though, maybe things have changed since everyone is running away. Which agents are recruiting for them?

If they are short staffed, they are going to work you harder to fill the gaps....
