Still want to go to Indonesia?

Ex-Ersa PAC750 operated by KomalaAir crashed on approach at Ninia. Engine entered the cockpit killing the engineer and seriously injuring the [young low hours Indo] pilot. Several pax also badly hurt...
..they were initially heading for the wrong airstrip when the pax insisted on going to the destination on their tickets.
Weather bad.
The pilot had never been to Ninia before and the Engineer had to guide him ....to the extent that the pax described him as the copilot. They finally approached from below the threshold, chickened out at the last moment and went around, had to turn sharply to avoid terrain and stalled a wing.
Also talk of not wearing shoulder harness ...pilot still critical in Wamena - which I assume means as good as dead.

No regard for safety in this place.

It's a sad state of affairs and unfortunately likely to become more common. Indonesia is going backwards on many fronts and aviation is not immune from this.

And that goes for the way they drive vehicles and motorcycles in this country. You just watch them enter and merge with traffic. No-one, not one!! cares to look for traffic coming. Quite senseless.
