Christoff Mueller as MAS CEO

This isn't a political website, but C Mueller's appointment to CEO of MAS has definite political ramifications. So much so that I really wonder oi the guy actually realises what hes getting in to.

When Mueller took the helm at Aer Lingus he had the full support of a strong Irish Government.
He had the support of the Irish public, who largely hated or couldn't care less about the National carrier.
He had the support of the major shareholders - either tacitly, or openly.

His only resistance was the Unions, and their members.
It was a walkover. He went through the place like a hot knife through butter.

But now - In Malaysia - the highly vocal ex Prime Minister (Mohathir Mohamed) has openly attacked CM as 'A White Man' and an unwelcome FOREIGNER. He has compromised CM by declaring him to be an affront to National Pride (no Malaysian National being suited to the job, a disgrace to the Nation).

The public in Malaysia are far more sympathetic toward their National Carrier, whether for purely nationalist pride, or for the sympathy felt for victims of MH17 and MH370.

Mueller does not speak Malay, or Chinese.
He is virtually ignorant of the intricacies of Malaysian politics and culture.
He will have no support from MAS middle management. They will undermine him because they have as much to lose from his (necessary) restructuring measures as the rest of the staff do.

MAS is grossly over-manned, so huge numbers will lose their jobs. When the **** hits the fan the staff reaction will be violent. The weak leadership of the current Malaysian Government will abandon Mueller and run for cover. He will be left to face the music all alone - the lone WHITE GUY in an Asian Company.
He is toast. I wonder why he even took it on.
Maybe he has a super dooper Golden Parachute agreement.

He's just a political Patsy, and he'll be gone in 6 months.

Well with the kind of attitude that the Honourable ex PM shows , it's going to be impossible for MAS to turn a corner. Aviation can be a pretty unforgiving place and wherever someone has manipulated a system or put national pride and other petty things on top , the price has been pretty heavy. As in , the cost has been paid by human lives which is priceless. Someone should tell Mahathir Mohammed that his boys have run the airline this far and the results are there for all to see. It's time to give it to someone else , wether he is English , Arab , Chinese , Bhumiputra , African , Indian .....who cares. The question is can he deliver. And if the government and the people of Malaysia are serious of saving MAS and making it a world beating airline , they should be willing to be open minded and pay the price for it.Or maybe better , ask Tan Sri Tony to run the airline. He will be make baggage handlers and air hostess pilots and so forth. A few more runway overruns , crashes and ......well , the story never ends:

A typical response by the ex PM Dr M. Apparently according to him as well it was Boeing that was at fault over the Missing MH370. Tries to put blame on somebody else is typical.
