If the grapevine is to be believed, they have hired quite a few number of ex Kf pilots.

this is the obvious as most the KF crew were training at Air Asia KUL training centre... the key is who will be CEO & VP Ops, Chief Pilot etc.. these are typically yes men if you see the profile at other Air Asia AOCs.

HQ in Malaysia runs the show... local AOC execute it. no questions asked.

"HQ in Malaysia runs the show... local AOC execute it. no questions asked."...

... proper order, this can only be a good thing otherwise call the whole thing off.

They should be careful bout hiring too many KF people, all the good ones are already working elsewhere and the ones that are left will bring their unionised, bloated company culture with them (same could be said for many airlines in that region actually) to what is one of the leanest airlines in the world, if a tight leash is not kept on em.

Be interesting to see how this goes.

Get your facts right about "unionised bloated company culture", on what basis do you make such silly comments...which part of the world are you from anyways!

Hey let's watch and control those inflammatory adjectives like "unionised, bloated company culture"... You don't know any thing , therefore don't talk loose!

I totally agree with you 100%%..... That was one of the biggest contribng factor for the slow disintegration of KF. The AI/ IA management types continued the same Govt style bureaucracy & KF bled to demise.....

I am not saying that is the only reason but definitely a big one....

If TATA's & Fernandez would learn a single thing from the KF episode, that would be to keep those guys far away from their new company....

Best solution for the company would be expat contractors in the left and CTC cadets in the right.

That would be in line with their business model, the expats are contractors so keep company overheads (pensions etc etc) low while maintaining operational flexibility.

The right hand seat could be outsourced to CTC again for the above reasons.

I don't exactly see what the ex KF guys are bringing to the show?

its evident that no one here has actually worked for Air Asia... anyone with ego or bloated culture is terminated with extreme swiftness and make an example off for what is to come for the next time who tries similar moves.

They successfully operate with local manpower in complex cultures such as Thailand and Indonesia and hence India is no stranger for them.. and TATA's support is the winning formula... KFA guys will be purely machine operators not decision makers.. all that is done in KUL
Air Asia does not pay expat salaries to anyone.. its NOT KFA or Jet Airways...

Got this from a friend in Indigo - Air Asia has hired roughly around 50 experienced Co-Pilots from Indigo.
