The main issue is EXAGGERATION --on everything from Indian pilots to Indian ATC to the macro-economic situation and corruption in India.Thats all there is.Take one instance and blow it all out of proportion.
Quite similar to when something wrong is found with Chinese products. I wonder what are the criteria for choosing nationalities for such special treatment? When competing with a group of people, whom does one pick on the most?

I think that even if some people had the experience of being TELEPORTED, they would probably still believe that Indian ATC is the worst.
Indian ATC are not the worst. Your experience (if you had it) should have told you that.

Mid-Air Plane Collisions: Near Misses Rise Around Washington as Air Traffic Control Lacks Experienced Personnel - Yahoo! Voices - voices.yahoo.com
After a mass hiring programe in the early '80s many experienced controllers have recently retired. A pay policy recently ended also meant that controllers had no incentive over the years to take jobs in the busier regions. Relatively few elected to gain experience of the most complex traffic control operations. All this has made the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) overly dependent on newly trained, inexperienced personnel - a situation which they know they must work consciously to rectify.
Nothing new there either.Just another pathetic attempt to label India.

Hopefully this should change the operating environment in the near future
Kudos to the Civil Aviation Minister for taking the initiative

In a bid to bring down the cost of air operations in the country, Civil Aviation and Petroleum ministries would make a joint representation to the Finance Ministry to notify jet fuel as a 'declared good', enabling levying of a flat four per cent tax on it. At present, sales tax on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) ranges from four to 35 per cent, varying from state to state. The cost of jet fuel accounts for about 40 per cent of the operating cost of the Indian carriers, most of which are facing financial trouble

The decision to jointly approach the Finance Ministry on the issue was taken at a meeting between Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh and Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Singh said Moily agreed to the proposal. Moily said his ministry was in agreement on giving declared goods status but the issue has to be decided by the Finance Ministry. "We will jointly make a representation to the Finance Minister," the oil minister said.

At the meeting, Singh is believed to have said that ATF prices in India were several times higher than countries in the neighbourhood, including those in Southeast and the Gulf. It was also said to have been pointed out that foreign airlines operating to India picked up jet fuel at concessional rates due to international agreements, which was far below what was paid by the Indian airlines for the same amount of fuel from the same airport.

The two ministers also agreed to a proposal to put ATF under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to check any cartelisation among the oil companies. Charging the oil firms with indulging in cartelisation in ATF pricing as they were charging the same price at different airports, Singh said placing jet fuel under PNGRB would mean that the Board could monitor prices and take corrective measures if it felt that cartelisation was taking place

The main issue is EXAGGERATION
Bloody Bang on. And to add to that its the lack of exposure. ATCo should go on a field trip to other ICAO ATCs and experience how they handle such huge volume of traffic so efficiently while remaining composed.

India to become second fastest growing aviation market by 2016: IATA - Money - DNA

Air transport body International Air Transport Association (IATA) Thursday said India will become the second fastest growing aviation market in the world by 2016.
"India will have the second highest growth rate at 13.1 percent CAGR (compounded annual growth rate), adding 49.3 million new passengers," IATA said in its Airline Industry Forecast 2012-2016.
India would only be second to Kazakhstan which is expected to experience the fastest growth rate at 22.5% CAGR, adding 3.9 million passengers to the 2.2 million in 2011.
Indian will be followed by China's 10.1% growth rate, which is expected to have an additional 158.9 million new domestic passengers.
According to IATA, the domestic passenger traffic world over is expected to increase by 5.2% and will rise from 1.72 billion in 2011 to 2.21 billion in 2016, with an addition of 494 million passenger over the period under review.
IATA further said the overall passenger traffic will increase by an average of 5.3% per annum between 2012-2016 to reach 3.6 billion passengers, from the 2.8 billion carried in 2011.
