thanks jetjockey
thanks for your views!! when I read abt the MSD-Citilink program , I almost got a mild heart attack!! I'm wondering who is going to be that desperate now to buy their seat into an airline!!
Just plain appalling to see what aviation has come to! I hope it doesn't fall any further or a day might come where every CPL graduate might just have to dry lease a Jet to perfect his/ her skills and to gain a couple of hours to have any further luck!
On second thoughts...oops!! I hope I didn't just type a 'Business-idea' for some of the crooks out there!

Now that TF has run off to Indonesia, I guess he doesn't care if FireFly has jets. I wonder if the pilots and aircraft that went over to MAS when the Air Asia share swap fiasco will go back over to FireFly now that they are once again talking about expansion.
From the Star & Bernama:
Firefly in talks to buy new planes
KUALA LUMPUR: Firefly is negotiating with several aircraft manufacturers to buy new planes to fuel the community airlines’ robust expansion plans two years from now, chief executive officer Ignatius Ong said.
He said the airline was keeping its options open on the range of the aircraft, which might be bigger in size from the turboprops the airline was currently using.
“If Firefly buys bigger aeroplanes, the community airline can shift its focus to medium-haul routes from the current short-haul destinations,” he told reporters at Firefly’s Hari Raya open house here yesterday.
Currently, Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) operates 12 turboprops, all have been 80% utilised.
“We are aiming for brand new planes.
“On the number of aircraft to be acquired, it all depends on the manufacturers and what the market has to offer.
“We are talking to the manufacturers to know the slots they have for aircraft delivery, and then we have to bring back the proposals to MAS’ board,” Ong added. — Bernama

Its going to be a while before they hire expat in Malaysia...but honestly I was there for a few years ago.. the golden days of expat in Malaysia... they didnt like the expats pilots...to much.. As the guy in the middle i could see the why... expat always whinging about conditions, some had the western superior attitude, I am god gift to flying, (250+hrs)... Good luck.
And anyway...here is way before you could get hired in Malaysia...
Unemployment Of Young Pilots Cyclical, Temporary - DCA
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- The unemployment of young pilots is cyclical and temporary in nature as it depends on the supply and demand in the job market, said Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) director-general Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman.
He said airlines would rebuild their capacity, add new routes and strengthen human capital, including recruiting more pilots when the situation improve.
The latest record shows that are 1,174 Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) holders who still jobless, he said.
"Too much dependence on jobs offered by local airlines such as MAS, AirAsia, Firefly, MASwings, Transmile and Berjaya Air adds to the magnitude of the problem.
"The period 2009-2011 has witnessed the downturn of global airline industry. The escalating fuel prices caused many airlines to review their operations," he said in a statement Tuesday.

I believe you are referring to the two 737-400s that FireFly bought and was using before TF sunk the jet fleet. MAS is phasing out the -400s so they did not paint them in MAS colors like they did the -800s they brought over. As far as I know FireFly/MAS is still paying the leases on them, so they could gin them back up pretty quickly, I suppose as they are still on the FireFly AOC.
