Aircraft sitting at REP

Their website is www.skywingsair.com
Two of their A320s are sitting at REP on the secondary apron with covers on. I heard they're not paying their fees....

Problems with local CAA

I heard they had MX issues and cannot pay for MX.

Did not pay crews. Did not pay handling fees.

Basically the joint is going belly up!

Local CAA has them on the watchlist!

They will promise you anything to get you there once there they will not pay you!

But maybe these are just some rumors of pilots that have found a really great place to fly and don't want others to enjoy paradise!

Am not sure. All I heard was the planes were sitting on the ramp doing nothing for over a month!

Experience says when rumors like that start, its the end.

Can some pilot that actually used to fly for them please comment and tell the truth about the place?

Finally could talk to an American pilot that actually worked there. They owe him 75.000 USD and he thinks there is no hope for him to ever get it!

According to him Skywings Asia is the worst airline in the world!

The management are scum bags that laugh about the stupidity of the pilots flying for free while management is planning to pocket all the money!

He said that the management is in fact Korean and they did similar things before in the airlines they owned before.

So he said they would try the same scam again.

Employees have not been paid for months. They just hang in there because the company makes promises.

Company is already preparing to file the papers for bankruptcy and leave the country. In Cambodia there is not a dime all the money is in Korea!

Employees - poor bastards - will not get paid for sure.

Management - is just waiting to collect the money of some contracts and then run without paying the employees.

Soon it will be all official....

Can't wait to see what really is happening.

If someone knows something about that place please post!

Now that Skywings Greece has gone out of business, where does this leave Skywings Asia?

More than rumors

Can anyone pass on info besides just negative rumors? I seriously doubt the one about the American being owed $75000. What's wrong with you guys making up stuff like that?

The pay is $7000 per month so this guy would have had to have flown for 10 months without any pay. Right. And the world is ending on the 21st too, oops! Maybe not.

They are still in business and a few weeks ago saw them take of out of REP. They seem to fly charter so that might be why they sit on the ramp a lot. It's normal.

A320 skywings

I have an offer to go either here or to bangkok .I could take home around 7200. plus overtime 80 hrs and over. Its for 3 months only.I spoke to a pilot working with skywings at REP. he said they started in October 2011. It was set up by pilots from Paramount aviation resources .they do regular charter flights to Korea.they were flying many flights in the busy season in 2011 from Nov till May. Then the tourist season slows down .again now this year they have started flying to many other places in korea. They have many expats and few locals working .the season have started so they say it will be busy for the next 4 months.

They had some issues in the past but they are working hard to overcome them. A new person from Slovenia have joined along with the local pilots and running the show.
He said he has been there since November 2011. I asked him about the greece skywings. he said the operations are totally different.
He said that most of the crew are nice.Just one capt very old around 64 from US to watch out.if anyone gives hard time it will be him...

anyway you get that everywhere so no big deal.

more in few days

Thanks for the info. I live across the border and it would be a convenient place to work. I've been flying in Asia for over 20 years and I've noticed that most places are not into the long term planning aspect of running an airline. When they have too many pilots, they terminate. When they are short, they scramble. Thailand is in need of 737 drivers now at two different airlines. The big problem here is not only is the pay fairly low, the tax is very high. Close to 50% when all is said done... I just finished a year and a half at Cebu Pacific and enjoyed the people and the flying. Most of the FO's have zero experience so having to fly an A320 solo during all weather conditions, increased my ability considerably.

mcdu380,

Thanks - good info. Pleased that the Greek situation won't impact them.

Jaz,

Where do you get 50% tax from. The maximum rate is 37% and the Government has just announced some changes which should bring this down by around 2% for most higher rate payers. With no local taxes or any other significant deductions, I don't consider this to be that bad.

Skywings

The new person from Slovenia is tre and good guy. Hope he will hold the line against owners. I know him personally and can vouch for his integrity. But the operation still has many hurdles to overcome.

Good mx folks also, just very limited spares.

Pilots have been paid through nov and hope soon to get dec pay.

Cabin crew good.

Just inexperienced airline management that is learning difference between tourist company and airline.

SRE is party town.

In past the airline holds back pilot when work is slow. Some pilots leave and some stay.

Grab on to your britches Son, it is close to $75k.

Current management isn't real big on paying Paramount on time.

Some deals were made and management tried to have to pilot groups.

One with paramount and one without. In the end both were paid late by three months. Salary longevity bonus were not paid to some as contractually agreed to.

Several FOs not upgraded as promised.

Do your homework before spouting off.

skywings

Hope this i fo helps
Skywings are working hard to get things better. They have two A320 now flying to many places in korea. The next three months or so going to be full on. Many pilots from Slovenia have joined now . Its winter and Adria is not that busy so some have come for a warmer weather and a bit of flying.
The team seems to be happy Under a very highly experienced Slovenian Pilot. The only problem is that after the busy season things will slowdown then you will have to find anothger job. This is really good for a cahnge and a holiday.
The pay is like for Captains they could take home 10K + for a 80 hours.
FO around 7K + for 80 hours
The airplanes are maintained well. MSN 476 and MSN 430
XU-ZAB,XU-ZAC.
Destinations ICN,MWX,TAE,PUS, Hanoi,Siemreap,Utapao etc.
so Its looks ok for me from what I have heard.
Accomodation for pilots I been told before It was in Hotel Pacific. but now they are providing apartments. so again some teething issues with internet and all but all in all pretty ok

management as allways you be the judge. they are from Korea and they are there to make money. But The contracts are through paramount aviation resources from USA . so you have a little place to stand on. but what i have heard is that if company does not pay paramount then you will not get your salary......
when in the lean season they had some troubles in the month of June ,july, august, sept, oct, Then now most of the pilots have been paid the arrears. So I think if they have money they pay. if not they wont. simple...
The locals are nice I heard
so thats it Folks from me
Good Luck

conditions

Thanks MCDU for the info. I appreciate it.

oped, I'm hanging on to them old timer.... I can't believe anyone would continue to work for 10 months with no pay. I can see a month or maybe two but I believe you, ok? Friends?

ZFT, my bad. your right about Thailand taxes "only" being 37% and you're right also, that it isn't a bad deal with everything considered. I just bagged everything together, like the 100%+ tax I paid on my new car, the 35% tax on the 200 canes I purchased and brought in for the blind school or the 50% tax on the 6 micro-scopes I brought in for my daughters school. Not to mention the continuous "road tax" I pay to our men in brown when I drive through town. And don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it's just part of living here and there are some really good deals that help to even things out.

SKYWINGS GREECE / ASIA

It is a fact that Skywings Asia is affiliated with Skywings Greece.

Wait till the US authorities find out who has been flying for Skywings.

If I were an American I would be very careful to go to work for a company that is affiliated with Skywings Greece because of all of the legal implications.

An American pilot never would have an idea to go and work for Cubana and think this could go unpunished. Why should Skywings be any different? Because it is farther away than Cuba?

But probably most Expat Pilots never ever intend to go back to the USA where they will face severe legal consequences.

Just my two cents.

Thumbs up Skywings Asia seem to be ok ...!

According to the situation right now Skywings Asia turn to be normal again after suffer for many months, because right now the number of pax is increasing by each day.

The company also pay all debt to pilot.

One good reason about Skywings Asia is that, the company try to get all highly experience local pilots back to work in his own country. As I knew so far all of this local pilots are highly train and holding Instructor License. Most of them are have more than 10k hours of solo flight with many types of aircraft like B737-400, ATR 72-500, Falcon 20 and A320.

I think this information will help. And if you have any doubt about Skywings Asia just post the questions, because I work as a check-in agent in REP and I can get some useful information from them to post for you.
