hi

Dear jibu

Please dont think everything as bad if you dont get your chances. Lepl projects is very reputed in Real estate & lifestyle business. I personally know Mr.Ramesh & Mr.Rajasekhar the Promotors. Mr K Babu former Sun Networks chief Pilot is the Ceo & Mr.SVN Moorthy who worked with Air India & Paramount as Chief Engineer is the Director of Engineering. As far as my knowledge they have already finalised the aircrafts from a lessor in Botswana for the aircrafts. They are bringing in 3 Q400 Aircrafts for the operations. They are concentrating only in south India. when I met few Management fellows in MOCA last week,They told me that they have already recruited few pilots and few will be recruited soon.

As far as their business plan is concerned Iam not sure they will sustain or not because of lot of factors which I cannot disclose in this forum due to ethics. few people in the management are spreading news that they will launch their operations in May/June this year, the reality is far that I believe that they can launch the commercial operations in another 6-8 months from now.

Again as the Management/Directors doesn't have the aviation Background definitely the Key personnel will be in charge of the Recruitment which they will prefer ............ &.............. concerned. But at least few will get jobs.

Keep studying hard brothers, Please dont jump into conclusions.

Regards
...............

Air costa plans to change fleet

Dear All

Air Costa was set to operate q 400's for their operations. Now they have changed plans and will operate ERJ 170 as per the latest Information.
wonder what will happen to the Money of the pilots (few has paid 25 lakhs ...!!!) who has been recruited for q 400.

Interesting fact : The regional director of Embraer told me there was only talks about finalising the Aircrafts and Nothings been finalised, But Air costa has given Nation wide Advertisement for Captains (ERJ 170 TR). Last time they had given for q400 TR pilots.

NB: Mr Moorthy (Head Engineering, Ex Air India) and Capt K Babu (CEO) is responsible for the mess according to the Management. The Non experienced Management/promoters are starting to feel the heat. These guys were behind A&B Cargo, Star Aviation & Emric Air which never took off.

25 lakhs for a turboprop aircraft is a little overpriced

Quite surprised at their change in fleet as only a few months ago they had received the NOC to import 3 Q400 aircraft.......

Even Iam surprised cyril......

See this is the problem if you rely on operational guys for your Aviation Project. This is why all the airlines in India except Indigo fails....
Iam a strong believer that you should have enough Aviation experience if you are going to be a promoter of an Airline. The Aviation business is something very different from other Industries. As far as Iam concerned Every penny saved is equal to every penny earned. See before the launch itself they have lost few crores in Advertisements, Sourcing of Aircrafts, ........ to Beaurocrats in order to avoid issues in changing business plans etc...

To become a sustainable Airline the business plan should be strong enough in a Price oriented market like India. No wonder ERJ 170 is a brilliant Aircraft for Regional Airlines. But the Routes they operate I definitely doubt whether it will be viable.... (surely it will according to CASK). If they are operating sectors of minimum 1FH then Iam happy, Anything less their P&L will never show Profits. As per my knowledge their 80% routes are between 0.75 FH- 0.90 Fh if its ERJ 170.

you make a very good point blackbird

its hard to find people who know the way the nindustry works.
aviation/operations guys are just that, they dont know business.
the business guys dont know aviation.

thats why you need experienced people at the top who can at least train a good set of managers.

having said that, nothing is clean in our country. having good people and strategy is not enough. need to grease palms because the open sky is still not really open as you need approval for every single thing.

the present government in general and aviation ministry in particular is not interested in promoting growth and reform.
all the policies are restrictive, infrastructure is poor, costs are sky high..

the only silver lining is that paying public is there to buy your offrering if you can provide a good level of service ( which for indians translates to value for money above all else)

there are enough investors in the country to start and run airlines and enough pilots to fly the planes. no shortage of cabin crew and ground crew either.
all that is need is the stupid govt stops burning money on air india and just does its job of a regulator and enabler of safe air travel.

Only if it were that simple! There have been a lot of airlines "coming soon!" some of them did come soon and some left even sooner. There has to be something in it for the promoters to start an airline. Most of these have been started by very intelligent and successful people. Bet, the promoters don't lose their own money. In fact, they get richer after starting airlines even if the airline goes bust!

So let's wait and see if Air Costa, Star aviation etc ever take off and if they do, for how long can they remain airborne. For a start up, hiring staff is least of the priorities. Especially in the current environment so, guys, please hold your horses, recruitment will start at a later date once we know they are actually taking off.

Hi Mate

As of now Capt Gopi has launched Deccan shuttle in Gujarat connecting 5 cities within the state. Religare has started operations in the Name Air Mantra between Punjab, Himachal and Jammu.

Karina Airlines is planning to launch operations with its Beechcraft by early 2013 in North east. Capt Roger Nair, the owner of Chalk International Airways(Formerely known as Chalk Ocean Airways, Hope All remember the FL101 Crash in 2005 killing all 19 on Board) told that he will start operations in Kerala under the Name Naki Air (He has a Charter company in Hollywood with this name) for the Propsed Sea Plane services. It will be one of the greatest services for the Rich and Royal Tourists to Fly directly to the resorts from Kochi or Trivandrum Airports using the Grummin Albatross (They have some Malads also I believe).Air Kerala is another one which targets only the Middle eastern routes which are the only money farms for Air India. If the Central cabinet gives a Go Ahead on this, the road for Air India will get more Difficult in coming days. Kerala government who has established the Country's first PPP model Airport( kochi)has achieved success in it and is very keen in this Project. with the commissioning of KIAL (Kannur International Airport) the 4th International Airport in kerala the project is on its way for take off.
Air Odisha is another venture from the Orissa Government where they plans to launch its operations in 2013.

Claims are there from Volk Airways (who has done recruitements before applying for the Noc), Air Pegasus (shyson Thomas, the Md has done his 7th Press conference in 3 years for the launch), Rahi Air from Karnataka, Emric Air from kerala who's Noc was expired few years before, Freedom Aviation who has deep pockets but hesitant to enter( They have already declared about dropping the Project as of now) etc. God knows whether they all will come up or Not.

Regards

Air Kerala

Air Kerala will take off April 14

Air Kerala, the state government's airline, would be launched April 14, 2013, to coincide with Vishu, new year's day in the Malayalam calendar, says Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
"It (Air Kerala) will be airborne April 14. The only question is whether the first flight will be an international or domestic one. Next month, we will be applying to the director general of civil aviation with the preliminary capital of Rs. 100 crore, which we will raise by then," Chandy, who is convalescing after a leg injury, told IANS during an exclusive chat.

The chief minister explained that under the rules, an airline can only fly international routes after completing five years of domestic service; there is also a stipulation about the number of aircraft that an airline operating internationally should have.

"But Air India Express was given a relaxation in rules when it started international operations. They said it was because it was a subsidiary of Air India. So, when the state government put up the application, we also sought similar exemption. Moreover, at the moment, we are given to understand that one foreign airline is allowed to fly in here, without observing these stipulations," Chandy said.

Chandy first took up the project in 2004. After he stepped down in 2006, the project lay in cold storage, during the tenure of the Left government.

On returning as chief minister last May, one of the first decisions Chandy took was to revive this project. He has received support from Malayalee businessmen in the Middle East.

"We have, in principle, decided to float shares of Rs.10,000 each and we were surprised when our own Malayalee businessmen there (in the Middle East) who employ thousands of employees agreed to take shares in their employees' names. Each of them employ more than 20,000 employees, so the issue of raising money of Rs.500 crore is not at all a problem. We are confident our dream will soon take flight," Chandy said.

Chandy has drawn out a schedule, and fixed April 14 as the target date for launch of the new airline.

And if Air Kerala is unable to fly international, it will at least take to domestic skies.

With Air India having opened a brand new hangar facility in the Thiruvananthapuram airport, Air Kerala, on entering into a contract with Air India and paying the maintenance charges, can use the hangar here, the chief minister said.

Air Kerala will also have access to the engineering department of Air India, so it will not need to recruit engineers, he added.

Air India was given the land for setting up the hangar free of cost by the Kerala government. What this means, though, is that Air Kerala can only lease B 737-800 aircraft; these are what the hangar here is equipped to service.

Buzz- Will Air Costa fly ?

There is some buzz again on the start of the regional Vijaywada-based Air Costa owned by Lingamaneni Estates (LEPL), a company into real estate, construction and contracting business. UPWA could not confirm this. The company has been employing staff of ailing Kingfisher Airlines that include cabin attendants, station managers, Instructors for Inflight services, ground instructors etc. In Aug last year, it had advertised for Captains holding ALTP License with total flying experience of 4000 hours (Jet 2000 hours, 1000 hours of Glass Cockpit, 1000 hours as TIC).
The airline has popped in and out of the news in the past year. Its website is static. However, we do hear it might start with five CRJ-200s, or Q400s.We realise the seating numbers of the two are miles apart, but we're reporting the buzz!
The CEO Air Costa listed on the website is Captain K.N. Babu who hails from Vijayawada.

Its neither crj nor q400. Its Embraer 170. There was a delay for a specific reason but it has been solved. Two Aircraft are scheduled to arrive this month end. Remaining three over the next 8 months. They have hired full work force for initial launch of operations.
