There are literally a dozen threads on this topic, search around.

Also how did you get an Indian CPL without a valid FRTROL?

I know many Indians who were issued licences by the DGCA on the basis of their FAA certificate and the FCC radio...

Further, if one wishes to obtain a licence issued by Transport Canada and that person already holds an FAA airman certificate then he/she may be issued a licence by Transport Canada after passing a simple 25 question written test... Oh and there is no need to pay a bribe or take sweets to TC

As for my golf balls..... I only use v1's

PT6A... I am also on your side and thougt "incredibble" enough and it cannot be topped now. Everytime I wake up I see something more to wonder.

As soon as most of these spoon fed "kidīs" have to face reality they try search for a way to circumnavigate rules and regulations and jump thru the backdoor and appear as the big cheese.

Failed to clear a subject here and make it there to show up later at the door step and make noise. Why not sit and study and clear it at the license issuing Authority? Direct way, clear and clean? not filthy at least.

@B737NG & PT6A

In order to obtain an RTR ( A ) license one has to clear both part 1 of the exam and part2 which is an oral exam .

Its conducted by the ministry of communications the WPC wing .

The people who set the questions and conduct the exam are not pilots . This department has no relation to the DGCA or the ministry of civil aviation .
They are usually electrical engineers who work for the Ministry and have never talked on an aircraft radio before
Yet they set the questions ( very weird questions infact ) and you are expected to answer them according to their methods .

One needs very specific coaching in order to pass this kind of exams .
I took coaching from MK Singh . One of things he told us was to use the word " HEAVY " at the end of your call sign if your aircraft was an AIRBUS A320 or BOEING 737 or bigger . You will receive two marks for this if you do so .

Another question that i had was
Q. You are overflying Goa . Take Action

As you can see the answers are very specific in nature . When i was in class there was candidates from air force pilots to airline captains attending the classes . These pilots talk on the aircraft radio as part of their profession everyday and are yet unable to clear the part 1 exam and have to take coaching classes .
This is because the engineers at the WPC set the questions and expect very specific answers to their questions than the real answer

Why not sit and study and clear it at the license issuing Authority
Part 1 of the exam is not something that you can just open a book and study by yourself .
Hence the reason why lots of pilots both experienced or otherwise find it very difficult to clear .

We all wish that things work that way in Indian Aviation where you study for it and are rewarded accordingly but the RT exam is purely at the whim and fancy of the govt engineer who corrects your paper .

Trust me you dont want to know the kind of questions they ask in part 2 of the exam .

If Indian RT exams are so strict.... Then why everytime I am in Indian airspace is the radio in such a mess?

People whistling and shouting to their mates... Arguing with ATC and each other!

This is not a one off but every single time.... Something that would pro pt a serious investigation in Europe.

@PT6A: did you not read cyrilroy21's post at all? Where in his, very detailed and beautifully articulated, post has he mentioned or implied the word 'strict'. I see words/phrases like 'weird', 'whim & fancy of the engineer' etc which to me translate into an idiotic mechanism of testing which makes little sense but a whole lot of rupees for the so called engineers. Not arguing with what you stated but the problem you mention has little to no relevance with what goes on in preparing or taking these tests.

Aviator,

I thought I had made it clear above I guess not.....

If you hold an FAA airman certificate you do not need to undertake any flight training to be issued with a Canadian licence.

Call up Transport Canada and make an appoitment to take the FAAA exam (25 questions) Get a TC medical and then TC will check your details with the FAA and then print you out a Canadian licence.

Simples!

No need to be attending an FTO
