Aussie pilot vanishes, derostered

Mumbai: An Australian national working as a commander for Air India Express since 2008 went missing on Friday morning. A day earlier, the 53-year-old commander was on duty in Abu Dhabi from where he was supposed to operate a flight to Trichy.
But he received a call from the airline saying that he had been taken off duty and should report to the Director-General of Civil Aviation with his pilot's licence and personal flying log book as there were doubts regarding the veracity of his documents. The commander flew back to Mumbai and, instead of going to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) office, apparently took the first flight out of India to Australia.
Air India Express has derostered the pilot. The DGCA has ordered an inquiry.
Since the time he joined AI Express as a commander in 2008, Capt Goran Pavicevic has flown over 2,800 hours. It roughly translates to having operated about 460 flights. He was rostered to operate the Abu Dhabi-Trichy-Chennai AI Express flight IX-614 on Wednesday night.
The flight was eventually operated by another commander as, hours before the flight, the airline received a mail from Rishworth Aviation, the New Zealand-based pilot-leasing company through which Pavicevic secured a job in AI Express. The mail expressed doubts over the veracity of some flight entries in his log book. These were done prior to his appointment in AI Express.

looks like the "fake" expats are now gonna have a tough call..

The Expats have been constantly harrassed with taking unnecessary medicals, forced to reduce their time off, Refusal to reimburse expenses due them, refusal to pay salary on time, and now this? I am glad he left. He clearly has had enough and decided to go home and be with his family.

Only lying cheating deceiptful people would believe that there is any wrongdoing going on here.

God Bless Him. Go enjoy your beautiful new home that years of hard work in India paid for.

I just find it very unlikely that expats are faking credentials. It is most likely that this was one more hoop that he chose not to jump through. He was in India working for a long long time and I imagine that he made all the money he needed and determined the BS was too much to continue. That is why I left two years ago.

I search these forums because I am considering to come back but when I read the stuff that is still happening it makes my stomach very queasy.

Typical Indian response, you always think the other person is the crook or the cheat even when it is you that lies, cheats and steals. How many Indians have been exposed?? How many expats???

Need I say more.

Sunset Contrails 10… I think that those who think that expats would never commit misstatements of material facts or present misprepresentations of themselves during interviews or commit scienta on job or licensing applications or fraudulent entries in their logbooks are a bit delusional or just plain living in denial... wouldn't you agree?

Call me reading too much into this but, I would wager a guess that someone at Rishworth may have emailed this chappy warning him of his impending doom with the Indian Express and the DGCA to cause him to take flight upon arrival in India.

RDR… you need to get a bit of a thicker skin… there are probably more expats poking fun at the locals, and that’s just what it is... so the best you can do is to take deep breaths, and say to yourself... "Pins and needles and needles and pins... it's a happy man that grins." and get on with it.

AA Always… the medical issue??? Yeah… an inconvenience upwards of three days in Bangalore. Years back I had to do the same in Beijing China in less than hygienic conditions too. This should have and perhaps has been a wake up call to the middled aged super humans. I’ll bet that a number of expats have taken the IAM medical as an apportunity to get their health back on track to increase not only their life expectancy, but to fly until they're ready to take off their goggles and not be forced to do so. At the end of the day… where can one get a comprehensive medical for less than $100? India is becoming a major medical tourist attraction too. Enjoy your health and long flying career to you retire.

@captjns:

@others: u guys just need an excuse to bash India and the way things are done here. Read up the article carefully u'll see that Rishworth Aviation based in New Zealand has exposed the pilot and he belongs to Australia. Indians do fake hours and all but so do others, please dont tell me that noone in Australia does it. There are bad people everywhere, they are not confined to specific places on earth. Those of u who dont like India just dont come here, go to China or Nigeria or maybe even Afganistan or Iraq and fly. Maybe u'll get more respect or better flying conditions there.

@The Eagle, You Said,

"Maybe u'll get more respect or better conditions flying conditions there."

Finally, a man that admits that expats with more training, more experience, more hours and likely more skill will get NO respect in India...thank you for your honesty.

ffs guys, it's an international industry, get over the fact that people from different nations might be flying next to you, or even commanding you, all the while flying your nations airlines.

Yeah, fake pilots are bad, sus them out then kick them out, but don't just rear up as soon as you see a foreigner, get insulted they have the bars on the shoulders whilst you don't, and accuse them of being a cheat.

On a lighter note, if you're so desperate to see Indian captains, just look at the aussie flying schools where daily I see 18yo Indian nationals in full four bars and wings doing area-solos

Hey, get your grammar and spelling right before you post!! Did you fake your level 4 English?

Some years ago it took me 2 hours to get a slot out of LHR; so much for your petulant rant about a delay of 45-60 minutes.

Who say he is Australian?

He is an Australian citizen; judging from his name he is probably of former Yugoslavia possibly of Serbian extract. Now after Nato intervened in Bosnia and turned the screws on the Serbs, a lot of dodgy Serbs ended up in the shores of Australia. Historically Australia was a land of felons, fowls of the same plummage flock together, so they say.

Only in India have I experienced such poor RT and disregard for fellow pilots. I dont know if its the "me, me me" generation or what. Oh, and this is a regular thing, not just a one off.
I do love staying in India though.

again.......Well done Raj for standing up to frauds, I would be proud to share a flight deck with you

Hey Kint, are you up set at the Tri nations rugby??

And displaced refugees like white South Africans.
