Not sure what you’re used to (lucky you!), but is this awful for someone who comes with 500 hrs PIC on a turboprop!?

Hi Bringbackthe80’s
Maybe your right about a turboprop guy if he is comparing turboprop salaries to narrowbody jets! Everything is relative. I was comparing what A320 operators in the region are currently paying. And my estimated for NET salary would be closer to 10k Usd as the combined taxes and social insurances are closer to 35-40% in Japan. Just a guess as it can depend on who the employer is also ( crewing company or direct hire). Anyway as a direct hire I think it would be a bit low for somebody already Airbus qualified.

Ok maybe you are referring to Chinese contracts.
In that case it’s less, yes.

Looking at the Doc's Rumbear is pretty much spot on... It would appear to be a Gross Contract and with all the J-Taxes you would be looking at a net of around 10-11K USD after taxes... You would be picking up your own housing and commuting home if they are even offering a "commuting" option... Currently a "J" Company with 2 aircraft operating one route... NGO-CTS return AM and a NGO-CTS return PM... Not sure what they have set up for "non" JCAB ATP holders but would expect a great deal of "self study" and a less that 50% chance of success on the Beta Program... Non JCAB people probably have a better chance going to Peach and the numbers work about the same... Not so good after tax... Just my 10 Yen worth...

Good find CRJ. Sounds like it's still in the startup phase. Routesonline shows them launching Taipei in February so maybe some real growth if one is patient enough. I've had a couple ex-AirAsia FOs and they all expressed positive feelings about T.F. and AirAsia in general --they said they only left to get out of Low Cost, not to get away from the company

Thing is for a foreign carrier to set up shop in Japan and compete with ANA and JAL is not a small task
