Ok not 500 a/c ..now only 375 .

Probably that was what he wanted, 500 a/c ( ego talk..typical of TF , and that was his stunt ). So actually only 375 a/c inclusive of the first 175.lah . He wanted to beat South West by the a/c numbers.( That was his ego)
MAS of course was living in the golden era of the yester years when were run differently. It was like a govt department before now maybe semi govt. With almost all top politicians having a fair share of Air Asia today
thing look very rosy for Air Asia today and maybe tomoro. It is a double bladed sword.
History has taught us that for the last 10 years God has sent us different ball games for the aviation., something that you could never think of or give a thought that it haunts the airlines. From sept 11, SARS , continuing escalation in the Middle East which affect the fuel price, volcanic ash, earthquake tsunami.

So what s else coming up? We will never know probably asteriod striking the earth, may be E colli bacteria mutations creating epidermics.

My arguement is ( for the sake of argueing.. that s what the forum for anyway )

1. Is the number too big to fit into his south east asian operation.
2.TF thinks he is the only person who can order big numbers and belittled the other operators.
3. His famous word ' we created the others imitate' or something amounting to that.
4. It is just a matter of time when the others will catch up.
5. All airlines have had their ups and downs. When you are small the impact is less and when you are just too big god knows.

Lastly Mr greenpeace98 when your last nightstop at scandicstar Sollentuna?

Scandicstar.. have you a problem with TF?

I am no fan of Dandie... but from two B733 to a 175 aircraft operations, he must be doing something right....

Forget about political patronage... name one that is not linked...
Don't be a sour grape... for once we have to take our hats off to him...

...and see what come later ...in 2020

AA - Egos etc

Hmmm,

Lets et the record straight - please. He started with 2 yes was given airline for free. Got X amount more after 911 at rock bottom prices. Got given with zero competition domestic routes. Went up against a typical soft target of government run airline with 1000'sssss of staff and no real management. Sounds familiar ha........

Good news - he is great maketing and sales guy. Brought in right white guys with real expertise. Made fast smart moves and did not care about a real detailed business plan... Buy planes and make the market happen.

Bottom line is asia still grows at a huge margin. But many good players out there and if you do not continue to grow you die................

For all pilots and crew good news - and for all pax's even better as rates will slide lower......................

happy flying - not gospel just my two cents...............

375 not 500.

James Bro and james taylor,
With due respect to TF for the job done, I am not having any problem with him for that matter I ve never personally meet him only over the media.
I am very happy where I am now though at times I do envy with the Air Asia pilots pay. Frankly , it used to be only Malaysia Airlines if you need to been considered 'airlines pilot' in Malaysia. Now for us the pilot, there is suddenly a choice of flying big jets. If you have a problem in your present company management there is a choice of leaving and join Air Asia.almost immediately. Big money comes with big risk as I am not a risk taker. I am vey happy with what I am getting. I ve seen the ups and down of aviation since late 70s as I am now retiring from the airline.

Ok he is locating his aircrafts all over South East Asia but every countries are putting up new airlines and the current airlines are also ordering the aircrafts by the big numbers. Every legacy carriers are forming their own short and long haul budget subsidiaries to compete . Very soon there will be a serious undercutting which is very detrimental to Flight safety. The number of aircrafts is overwhelming for such a small airspace. This does not include China and India where the major players are.

Me thinks despite their low-cost image, AK seems to be investing quite a bit in crew training and obtaining the latest gadgets. Very unlike the "big boys" across the tarmac who seem to be hell-bent on cost-cutting. So, can we imply that the statement above should apply to MH. My 2 sen...

How the heck can they fund this many aircraft!?

Do note that these will most likely be replacing those retiring.

By listing the companies in the stock exchange and offer initial public offering (IPO) for Thai AirAsia (which will happen at Q4/2011) and Indonesia AirAsia.

and

dilutive offering or secondary market offering for AirAsia Berhad.
