Everyones situation is so different that to say whether this job is good for someone is a tough call. It's too bad that there are so many thoughtless people tossing you know what into the wind, without any facts. When I accepted this job, I was in the position to come over here, without the prospect of any time off to visit my family during the contract period. Then, before I got here, I was offered the 6/2. I know, from what I've last heard, they aren't offering to the FO's, yet, but remember, a couple weeks ago, they weren't offering it to the Captains either. I know what it's like to be young and each week feels like a year, but in this business, this aviation business and especially contract, you have to be patient. I would fully expect that the FO's will be offered commutable contracts at some point. As far as pay, ALL companies pay Captains more than FO's, I know for some this might be a hard concept to understand. As over the years, I've flown with enough FO's that couldn't understand why they weren't Captains after 100 hours on the airplane and most importantly, why in the hell I was a Captain..... The pay varies for each person, depending on whether you sign directly, which is what I did, or through a contract company. I was offered 2500 more to go direct than through Parc, let's say. Ok, I had to sign a 50K penalty clause that may or may not be enforceable, but I have never jumped ship in the night so it wasn't a big deal. I was having breakfast the other morning and listened to one the "wise" foreign FO's that had been here for less than a year. CP offered him a left seat position but he would have to sign a "local" contract. He was ranting about " Do they think I'm Stupid"? I make more as an FO.... So, this guy, who has been an A320 FO, turned it down. I should say, who has been an A320 FO for the past 17 years, turn it down. Very sharp guy, he showed them......

BOND!

by didjubrinabee Took it to my solictor and he advised me that in my country it would not stand under the law as an unreasonable restraint on you to stay and work!

What happens when you try to [OR] do leave Cebu pacific and the airline you applied to/ joining request a reference? What kind of reference will Cebu pacific give - that you did not complete your contract and owe us a bond of x remaining amount! I wonder what Emirates and Etihad will tell you at that moment?
didjubrinabee, you could be right? Got to be careful before taking a step in!

Wow!
All I can say: I'm glad I didn't listen to the moaners and groaners. I believe I've actually found a home for as long as they'll have me. For those that have been sitting on the fence, I don't think I've seen another company in the past 30 years, that's puts as much enthusiasm into making my life better. Cebu Pacific reminds me of my early years at America West Airlines when they had 20 airplanes and everyone had a smile on their faces. Sure we worked hard, our pay was below the norm, but we were happy and had fun. Of all the guys I've met here, I haven't met a one that is miserable. Oh, don't mistake me, Pilots as a rule will find anything and everything to complain about as a rule. Back at the old company, when we were making 200k+ and 15-18 days off a month in a block, there were plenty of guys that figured we were getting the short end of it, until we lost our lifetime jobs. Thanks for the guys that PM'd me and gave me words of encouragement during the past month.

Is that you Captain DW? I hope you liked the 'Black Ink Technique'.

Captain DW

Sorry not captain DW. I would like to retract my comments however. It seems there is increased interest in joining the ranks here and my lifestyle will only continue to improve if you guys will look else where and keep my position golden. Thank you in advance.....

No allowance Pay yet

The pilots have been receiving their money on time. The HR is giving them the run around. It has been 16 days and no extra allowance. They are waiting for the higher department to approve the allowance which is already stated in the contract. So what approval are they waiting for? It is not an extra amount, it is the allowance which is stated in the terms and agreement of the contract.

True

The allowance not arriving on time is true. I spoke to a friend there right now and he never receives his allowance on time. The people are nice though! So it counteracts the late payment of allowance.

INFO PLATTER

pprune is supposedly an information where pilots who are trying to get hired are seeking information.
No need to abuse anyone, snk596 has his views and Jazz has his. we finally make our decisions.

interview

Hi everyone!
If You have any idea about the questions asked over skype I would really appreciate!
You can send me PM for any advice please.

I am trying to figure out are the crews positive about the company but I guess we are always complaining whatever contract we have.
Did anyone started the commuting contract already?

Thanks

Skype interview

The questions are mainly limitations and practical ones. Not like snow depth but rather max alt for flap extend, gear speeds, etc.... Things you should know anyways. Also the titles of memory items like emergency decent, airspeed unreliable, again, things as a Captain, you should should a handle on.

As far as the complaining, as I've mentioned, someplace, very little bitching overall. We all have breakfast every morning together, and there is a pretty big group. The only whiners that I've heard have suddenly shut-up, for some reason.......

There has been a large increase in the amount of expats coming onto the property so me thinks the news is starting to spread. If you're coming, the sooner the better. Good luck!

No piece of mind and criminal activity

Beware before you show up! There is a sim session and it is part of the screening which you are not told of earlier. There is no piece of mind overall! One pilot was held at knife point another chef from the hotel was held at knife point as well. Criminal activity is on the high!
I have heard of horror stories from f.o flying with captains who are not qualified in that seat and the new expat Captains are rusty not flown in sometime. They will put you in a situation who don't want to be in. The f.o is a flap operator.only 6 months contract and no extension. Foreign Captains are paying tax. some foreign f.o's are also paying tax.
Dispatchers and crew control are terrible. management doesn't care what pilots have to say!
Different pay scale for different pilots. some pilots may get higher or lower than others. It is not a place you want to join!

What planet are you on?

SNK596, i am not sure whether you are actually employed by Cebu or whether your just a big spoon stirring up gossip.

I can vouch that the information you have provided is false and in fact absolute rubbish!! We should be using this space for practical information to help our fellow pilots. Not fill it with nonsense because you may be bitter about something. Prrrfff amateurs

April to August 2011

These incidents happened in April, July and August 2011!
Many of you pilots were not here in earlier days! Check with the chef of Traders hotel who was held at knife point or ask any staff. There was a pilot who was held at knife point. Ask the 3 Mexican pilots who are paying tax! GPWS warning was activated when the loud Mexican f.o. was flying with a local captain.
THESE ARE FACTS!

Just the Facs Ma'am

Ok, now, I know who you are Stnk596, you're one of the Mexican FO's that had flown for Mexicana Airlines as an FO for the past 15+ years. Suddenly found yourself without a job and very little prospects. Since you've never flown contract before, have decided that the world owes you. Well, they don't. Cebu Pacific offered you a golden opportunity. To get out of the rut of being a permanent FO, and to become a Captain. They made the offer to you and several of your fellow EX-mexicana pilots but as of yet, no one has accepted. Instead, you hope, you can dissuade any more pilots from joining CP and "bring them to there knees" right? Yes, I heard you talking one morning at breakfast. You and your brothers want CP to give you the same pay and benefits that someone like myself, with 16,000+ hours of PIC time on A320 and larger aircraft, are making. Instead of looking at it as an opportunity, you're turning it into a company busting union tactic. I feel sorry for you and hope you can see to it to stop trying to lie and spread false rumors, for personal gain. It won't work. You'll be back in Mexico before you know it, wondering what went wrong. CP, is only "not" offering a longer contract to those they don't want, otherwise you would have been offered an extension. They are getting 30-40 more aircraft in the next 36 months. There is only one reason they are not offering you an extension. Hasta la Vista.

PC and medical

The last I heard, they want you to have a fresh PC and medical but you would need to ask the HR person when you do your skype interview. I think, and it's just my opinion, that the fresh PC is not really needed now as you get a PC during your initial training. At least I did. So, even though I was glad to have had the sim time in preparation, it seemed like I really didn't need it. The medical, you do need. Review this post, I believe there is info on the Skype interview or you can PM with your email. Also, "Push", it takes at least 2 months to get your paperwork finished, license validated, IOE, etc.... they aren't going to give you a 3 month contract. I know some guys have been here for 3 months and just starting to fly the line but the pay is the same so..... If you want to contact HR directly, PM me. If you choose to go with a contract company, your not getting a management team, they are just getting a finders fee for you and you'll end up as direct hire with Cebu anyway. Some take it out of your salary for the first month. So, I'd rather have the cash in my pocket than theirs. Good luck! I see they are getting more and more applicants as the contract is now one of the best in Asia overall. In fact, outside China, it is the best for the overall package. I spent a little more than a year in China, and that is a rough job compared to this one.
