Sim Ride

ADR 1+3 fault or Dual FMGC failure. V1 cut, Wind shear followed by TCAS resolution, climb out on a radial to FL 350 for Emergency descent, engine failure/ fire to return back to airport. S.E. could be raw data precision / non precision. Well, one of the failures will eventually give you direct law.
If there is a team of pilots then expect to have your way. Cebu Pacific did change some terms to couple of pilots sent through Parc on direct contract who demanded 6 months instead of 1 year and removal of bond of 1 million pesos as well as clause stating that they cannot have an appointment with any airline during their term with Cebu Pacific without prior notice from the company. These changes were made when the pilots refused to sign the contract. As well as transportation was not included. Single handed, there is not much you can do.

Bond

Ok, thanks. They offered me 2 million, which is still high, but I don't have any plans to leave anyway before the end of my contract. It's a poor way to do business and it's a small world, as you know. I really appreciate the heads up and helping me with the info. If you're still on the job, I'll owe you a cold one or two.

Well, they are afraid of people doing runners. Life in the Philippines ain't that heavenly and things can easily go pear shape for those who are not prepared.

Somewhere in this forum, someone wrote about a case of kidnapping. Do not be put off so easily but do come prepared for the unexpected. Lots to look forward to...........

Life in the PI

You're absolutely right. Going to any country with your eyes wide open, makes the transition much easier. Since I've spent 20 years of my life doing contract flying, I've seen just about everything. It's not for everyone and if a guy decides to give it a shot, it's best to make like a local and not try to change a culture. I believe that Cebu Pacific is trying to make changes as they learn about the expats, but it take time. What is regarded as the norm in a certain country, is considered horrific in some places. My last company used to work us for 18-22 hours duty( sometimes up to 30 hrs with DH ). That was legal and considered the norm. I considered it horrific. Lot's of jobs out there right now, pick and choose wisely.

Wow!

All I can say: I'm glad I didn't listen to the moaners and groaners. I believe I've actually found a home for as long as they'll have me. For those that have been sitting on the fence, I don't think I've seen another company in the past 30 years, that's puts as much enthusiasm into making my life better. Cebu Pacific reminds me of my early years at America West Airlines when they had 20 airplanes and everyone had a smile on their faces. Sure we worked hard, our pay was below the norm, but we were happy and had fun. Of all the guys I've met here, I haven't met a one that is miserable. Oh, don't mistake me, Pilots as a rule will find anything and everything to complain about as a rule. Back at the old company, when we were making 200k+ and 15-18 days off a month in a block, there were plenty of guys that figured we were getting the short end of it, until we lost our lifetime jobs. Thanks for the guys that PM'd me and gave me words of encouragement during the past month.

DEC

I was hired as a DEC. Aside from the negative comments from the junior wanna be pilots trying out their parents computers for the first time, it's a pretty good program overall. Of course, what do I know with only 24K hours and 20+ years of flying contract in Asia. Right James?

No To CEBU

I would never encourage anyone to go to Cebu due to the fact that you are not helping the situation of the locals who fled the situation there. IFALPA should have played a hand in not encouraging Pilots to apply for this job until conditions improve. Bear in mind also that all Agencies that recruit are liars and will tell you anything that think you want to hear to have you start so they will tell you that will upgrade while they know that you won't.

Contract and roster

Yes and the contract varies with agencies which is normal. With the roster, you're flying 90+ hours a month, back in the hotel every night. They don't let you take the contract out of the office but mine was exactly what they told me before I got here. It's not the best contract I've ever had but it's by no means the worst. Sorry, I wish I had more bad news and negative comments, for all you guys that thrive on doom and gloom.

Well Said

Totally agree Jazz! There are far to many people on here that thrive on 'doom and gloom' fact of the matter is the airline is getting better and that is becoming more apparent with the new terms they they keep introducing. For the Captains any way.

Cebu

319320,

I know excatly how you feel...I was invited to Manila. 3 days before travel I questioned parc on this rumour of a bond of 110k-120k and he confirmed it for me...hence I wanted to do my due diligance on this and requested more info. Should have heard the phone go off the night before i had to travel!!! had ph calls from parc and hr in manila trying to tell me theres no problems with the bond...( im sure this is correct...until theres a problem with the bond. They sent me 5 or 6 paragraphs of the contracts. Took it to my solictor and he advised me that in my country it would not stand under the law as an unreasonable restraint on you to stay and work.
....So my humble opinion for and f/o there is little incentive...to leave my family ...no commuting and i hear no holidays for 6 mths.... ( and so yes im remain unemployed!)....
...and for a captain however ...yes... they both get tough rosters and yes both sign the maaaasive bond BUT..., he gets remunerated much better.and I believe he has a commuting roster...Dont know what to believe really parc dont tell you evrything hr tells you every is ok...

Beers

Any just felt like putting in my 2 cents worth...
