upgrade
Yes, this is true. The Mexican FO's were offered an upgrade to Captain but since they hadn't been a Captain before, they were offered the same pay as a local Captain. However, they figured they deserved Expat pay and that wasn't going to happen. So, instead of looking this as an opportunity to be a Captain instead of 40+ year old FO's, they chose to quit and continue flying as an FO someplace else.

Soon. Deliveries are starting already and Air Asia Philippines is ramping up.
Ok, I take this back. Maybe never.

That all depends on the seniority.
The most junior local captains, those who have been employed by the company for 3 years or less take home around USD 6K monthly at 80 hrs average block time. The senior captains (non instructors), those with the company for 10 years or more get at least USD 9K monthly.
Expats get anywhere between USD 12k to 14k for the same work.

Adios Expats!
Apparently, from the number of guys at breakfast, that have just been given a one way ticket home, Cebu is in the process of terminating their relationship with expats. No announcement as of yet but so far, at least a half a dozen have been given their walking papers, with a one or two day notice. Stay tuned as the saga unfolds...... Dang,
......On the other side, rumor has it that Zest Air has been canceling flights due to lack of crews.

Local FO
3.5K USD is quite a lot for a local FO's salary if you are actually staying in either cebu or mnl.
do they get paid while on training? I heard it's just allowances while on training plus Ceb is holding back payment for 2 months now for trainees. is there truth to that? Are they only gonna pay Local FO if they pass the training? that's sad.

Renewing an A320 rating in the Philipinnes
Hi guys,
Just a quick question to you guys flying on A320 validation certificates issued by the CAAP.
If your rating is soon to expire/ or has. Can the company check pilot renew it, or do we still have to have a CAAP examiner present? Like the initial checkride.
I have read part 2 but it only states " An authorized examiner of the Philipinnes"
Not at Cebupac but on the same validation as you guys
Thanks

The revalidation is done with a medical check and also documents. No check ride like you had the first time around. Your own countries certificate must be valid with a proper PC check..... Of course, as hard as this might be to believe, things change.

Yes, but after they pack their bags, buy a ticket home, arrive home and then they have been getting invited to come back. It's happened twice that I know about in the past couple of weeks.

Rod, you can PM me and I'll give you a contact but you won't hear back from them. For some reason, if you don't email when they are actively searching for pilots, they will not even send you a thanks but no thanks. This is common of many airlines.
I just stopped into the office and asked if there was any current plans to hire more pilots and was told not now. In 2013, there is suppose to be quite a few a/c being delivered. This can change with a minutes notice, 10-15 airplanes, including A330's.
Cebu is a great place for expats to work but you have to keep in mind that we are only a stop gap until they have enough locals to take our places. I'm sure I'll get slammed as many of the complainer's came from unionized airlines and feel it's their God given right to many benefits that simply aren't available elsewhere in the world.
I'd sit tight, wait until the time comes and they really need pilots again and then you'll be on your way. If you're of Filipino descent, get your butt down to the local flight school and get ready for something that only happens once in the lifetime.

Hey Jaz
What if I took I took Haidee to dinner and told her I loved her and our children would be beautiful ...would that help?
It didn't last time I tried it.
But she still ran up the bill.
Lot of work in SE Asia for Bus guys now.
Ciao
