can we bring it back to how a take off was aborted because of apples, that simple was much more fun than the current digression of this topic

color/experience or discipline

Gentlemen, this is getting to be a white vs brown and a low timer vs an experienced pilot..

remember most big jets fall out of the sky with a very experienced pilot... now i am not saying that low timers dont do silly things out of inexperience.. and the Indian 250 hour wonders are the best or the worst, but its all about discipline.

chaps getting their CPLs in 6-12months get it because of discipline, most chaps get hired by airlines at 250 hours because of the discipline and sincerity..

its the attitude and behavior of a lot of kiddie winks learnin how to fly (read burring holes in the skies and their parents pockets) and cocky behavior by a few senior pilots that has tainted the name of a lot of us (not just brown but white ones too)

Talking about news reporting in India, its not a just pinch of salt, but its the concoction of a whole bunch of spices!

What I find most amusing is how the IC guys always talk of their quality of training.Despite their "high standard" of training , they never fail to impress with their acts of stupidity. And is her Daddy in IC as well ? Because by the looks of it , she must have grown up watching Daddy bring in the apples from Varansasi everytime , that's why the price difference didn't really go noticed.Unfortunately after Daddy got her into IC , he never really taught her what an engine stall reallys sounded like. But don't you worry boys , before Daddy retires , he will ensure that she becomes an Instructor and who knows even Director Training one day.

Thats what is GR8 about pprune. So many experts who have never made a mistake under one umbrella..A fellow pilot makes a stupid error for which she is probably kicking herself and here we have all the Cultured Gentlemen leaving no stone unturned to run her down...
We dont need the clueless about aviation Indian media to screw pilots...WE just need some of you guys...Thankyou

Wow, rejecting a takeoff at high speed without crosschecking engine parameters is definitely a " no no " despite all the support and protestations by her supporters. True she might have had great reflexes but boy oh boy, what a calamity jane she would have been if the plane had gone off the end of the runway into some ravine or slums.

My takeoff brief "after 100 knots, only reject for master warning, caution, engine fire, failure, or loss of directional control." I have since added "any fruit that I am carrying in the cockpit that falls over".

I amuse myself

Pulled up for panic braking, AI pilot does it again

Courtesy Indian Express: Pulled up for panic braking, AI pilot does it again - Indian Express

Eight months ago, when apples stowed in the cockpit’s overhead cabin by the commander fell with a thud, Captain Kanwaljit Kaur, mistaking it for major engine trouble, applied sudden brakes, bringing the Air India aircraft to a screeching halt, bursting tyres and putting at risk nearly 100 passengers.

On November 9, freshly re-instated as a commander, she applied brakes for a second time, aborting a high-speed take-off at Bangalore, again bursting tyres, and risking 90 passengers on board an Air India flight bound for Delhi. This time, she was alarmed by an indication that the nosewheel, which helps navigate the plane during taxiing, may have developed a malfunction.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers transferred to another aircraft. The damaged aircraft has been withdrawn from service and was recently ferried to Delhi for major repairs at the airline’s workshop.

Luck does not favor the Captain!

gotta love Indian journalists.... I do hope it was the press who did the foopar...

In two corrective trainings that Capt Kaur received so far — the first, after she ‘mistakenly’ flew into the Pak airspace in 2009 and, second, after the apple incident in February this year — the airline’s training committee recommended that she should not be allowed to fly solo. Still, the airline’s training department cleared her to fly solo.

Solo in a Airbus, another first for India !

Why doesn't the anti-skid in the airbus prevent tire burst. Proceedures in my aircraft are to push the brake pedals to the floor and if below V1 or Vmbe or Max tire speed, tires will NEVER blow.

I think the most dangerous thing in some cockpits in Indian registered aircraft are some of the indigenous crew. As mentioned previously, they have got rid of most of the experienced expats, through the ridiculous medical demands of some half baked law.

Racism is practised on the subcontinent, on a regular basis. In fact it is written in the rules. EG., a non Indian cannot hold an Indian pilot license. If that ain't a racist attitude I don't know what is, when you consider how many Indians hold non Indian licenses before being issued with the coveted Indian DGCA licence/Doctorate.

As for the apple incident, what happened to the basics?? Loose articles in the cockpit. Are pilots not taught these days to check for loose articles in the cockpit before flight, IE cockpit secure?

I rest my case.

Is this true? Oh dear, she is really foolhardy and crazy to get back in command in this manner. As my good old guru might opine; " Sadarni, kebara baje "
