Tianjin Airlines

I was over in China recently and heard some news on Tianjin Airlines.I think they are currently a turboprop outfit but are getting or already have 320's.It was said they currently have about 6 or 7 expats working there.

Anyone have any information on this place?

idiot????

I'm not really sure he is an idiot I think its more that maybe you not very bright!!
Seriously do a search on Google you will find all the info you want including that Tianjin airlines has NO turboprops, but has EMB 145 &190. If you are thinking about applying for a company its kind of important to at least know about their fleet!! (As the saying goes -Read before you think and think before you speak- something i think in this case you didn't do)
You could also do a search on this forum and you will find two pages about Tianjin airlines.
You are correct in that they have some expat captains flying the EMB 145 (again you will notice that's not a turboprop) I was drinking with 3 of them a few weeks ago. They had one guy who had been there a year and two new guys who have been there about a month, but are not flying yet.
You are also correct that the company is planning to get some A320's. I have heard some longer term plans that they may even get some A330 in the distant future. The parent company is Hainan airline and the local government so they have plenty of money and connections (Very important in China) to expand the company at a fast rate.
I think they are hiring through VOR holdings.....if you don't know who they are guess what......you can Google it......

Yes Mr. Purple Head I did Google it and I know all the stuff you mentioned.

The site I looked at said some type of turboprop must have been some old info. And yes I know they have RJ's.I wasn't interested in any of that crap I was hoping to get some info of working conditions, living there, pay etc........ and possibily if or when they are getting 320's.

Most forums guys will tell you conditions in great detail of their airline.Capital,Spring and Air China are good examples. If this has been posted before I'm soooooooo sorry.

And if you could get all that info by just googling it, PPrune would not be necessary you moron!

Got an "Intruder" one up your ass????

you certainly like name calling.......yawn
Tianjin airlines never had any turboprops so it wasn't old information, it was just "air...."plane" wrong, and after checking the top 5 search results on Google and Yahoo i can't find any reference to them having turboprops, so i think you should do a course on search engine use!! The used to fly the 328 jet and these aircraft are still sat on the ramps not doing anything.
OK here is something to make life easier for you.....go to the VOR holdings page, Google it if you don't know the address and you will find the pay etc, like you have asked for. You can also do a search on pprune and you will find VOR are not really held in high regard by pilots in China.
As for your other questions, I have lived and flew in Tianjin for over 5 years (but for another company) and i know many people both Chinese and the few expats who work in Tianjin Airlines, so i could tell you everything and more that you wanted to know.
However if you think i'm going to offer you any help after you called me a moron, you can come to Tianjin and suck my big fat one instead!!!

Tianjin leasing company

I know the guys up in Tianjin as well. There are a total of 5 foreigners at tianjin. 3 of them have been there a year and the other 2 just started a few months ago. They are all with WASINC (www.wasinc.aero). I know WASINC is sending a quite few more this month as my friend is in the interview group.

I think VOR holdings (Pilot Jobs in China - VOR Holdings - For a Safe Landing in China) also has a contract with them but like you said, they don't have a good reputation and I know for a fact that they don't have anyone working at Tianjin.

The contract is the same no matter which company you go with. I work at Shenzhen Airlines with WASINC and very happy with the support I get.

Interiew process

Medical in Beijing, all day.Work Visa medical in Tianjin, one hour.Atp exam, 2 1/2 hrs unless you have a power cut towards the end with no backup, then 6hrs plus Simulator ride which is a pre check for your CAAC ATP check which you do when you come back next time.
No interview as such, tick all the boxes and you get asked to come back for your CAAC ATP check in the sim so you can get your licence.
All the information you need to pass the exam is provided by the agencies.
Going thru the process at the moment so that is all the info I have

Tianjin screening

Hi there,

I was invited just last friday to join screening with Tianjin beginning on Apr. 12th. however I was not sure if I can manage to study and memorise the ATP questionaire within 8 days ( just received them today) and, after having a look at them, I guess some answers are not correct either so I purchased also the ATP test prep from Gleim. by the way I applied with APAS has anyone experiance with them? thnx and best regards

I worked a contract with wasinc. I was very disappointed by the support they provided and even more disappointed when they kept the last paycheck after I completed all my contractual obligations. they didn't follow many other parts of the contract for that matter.

there are a handful of agencies recruiting for tianjin, I would never recommend wasinc to anybody.

I am not sure the 320 job at TIanjin will be very pleasant for a while. They are advertising for Capts and FO's and now expat mechanics. I don't believe they had any plans to get 320's as they have no pilots in the Chinese pipeline. They have no 320 pilots, and all the pilots going there will be trained by pilots at other carriers in the Hainan Group. That means Capitol Airlines. That means that short term you will be flying with Capitol crews (a good bunch of guys, except maybe me), but god knows where you will be flying. You might find yourself deadheading (for free) to a Capitol base and staying there all week. For months. Meanwhile we will be deadheading there to fly in Tianjin all week. For months. Staying in really bad hotels at the airport. Or it might work out fantastic and be a dream job, but it is a crap shoot at the moment. Once Tianjin Air gets your license, they "own" you in China. You can't work anywhere else. Choose your Chinese airline carefully as it will probably be your last as you can't just switch carriers.

I would hold out if you can. The Hainan Group, to which both Capitol and Tianjin belong, are shifting around 320 assets and people, much to the detriment of the people, both Chinese and expats. I think the plan is changing on a daily basis.

If you can screen, and then hold them off for 3-6 months, that may not be a bad idea. Right now it is a goat rope, and we are living it.

It might turn out great, or be the worst nightmare you ever lived. And you will have no say in the matter other than resigning, which is my choice currently. We are doing this exact same thing with another Hainan Carrier, Lucky Air, for the exact same reason, and having been doing it for 3 months. We are about to start the same circus with Tianjin Air.

Capitol is the only 320 operator I would recommend to someone in China, but at the moment I wouldn't recommend them. Tianjin Airlines I know nothing about other than they are a sister carrier in the Hainan Group, and they had no plans in place for 320's, and no 320 pilots other than "wet leased" ones from another Hainan carrier. Us. The instructors here are all great guys, but they are very senior. They are not going to commute to you, you are going to commute to them. That means lots of dirty hotel time in Xian and Beijing, and if you are lucky sometimes, Sanya. And I believe most Hainan group carriers do 300 hours of line training.

Outstanding!

Well said purple head. That was some funny sh!t
I have been looking into a lot of the current postings for China jobs, I'm currently at a sinking U.S airline. I'm looking to make the move to an overseas job soon. There is a lot of info out there in cyber world about this topic, I just don't know what to believe! I would like to talk to some American pilots currently working in China. If you have some firsthand knowledge on carriers, jobs, contract agencies ect.... I would really appreciate some accurate info. I'm a current and qualified A-320 capt.

Even if Hainan and any company associated with them weren't a pack of lying, cheating S, and they were paying 50k US a month, it would not be enough to put up with this :
